Awe-Inspiring Sights and Middle Eastern Nights: Chasing the Sun on a Dubai Yacht Charter

As the Mediterranean cools down, winter sun-seekers travel further afield. Dubai, the jewel of the UAE, ranks highly on our list of must-visit Middle East holiday destinations. In a land of superlatives, this is a playground for high society, a hotpot of cultures and heady blend of tradition and futuristic vision. Though the winter sun might lure you, its spellbinding energy is what will keep you coming back. And with a coastline you can spot from space, exploring Dubai by yacht charter makes for a Middle Eastern adventure like no other.

1. Soak up the world-famous sights on your Dubai yacht charter…

Dubai isn’t shy about its accomplishments. And why would it be? This dazzling city wears its brightest jewels on its sleeve – in this case, the coastline.

With a luxury yacht charter in Dubai & Middle East, you can experience this region from a truly unique angle. Cruise through the sandbar leaves of Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah – the world’s largest manmade island. The crowning glory of the palm is the Atlantis, an ocean-themed oasis and resort. Here, you can dine in celebrity-headed restaurants, bask on a private beach or indulge in a treatment or two at the spa. Thrill-seekers should head to the resort’s waterpark, Aquaventure, where you can plunge down nine-storey slides and zip through shark-filled lagoons.

Next, cruise your yacht up the coast to the Burj Al Arab. This 7-star hotel is shaped like the sail of a traditional wooden dhow boat, though inside it’s world’s away from old Dubai. The lobby soars higher than the Statue of Liberty, and gold pillars offset the reds, blues and greens that feel fresh from a Disney movie. Reserve a table at one of the hotel restaurants to get a glimpse of its interior.

Next, dock your yacht and head into the city. No trip to Dubai would be complete without visiting the world’s tallest building. At 828m, The Burj Khalifa pierces the landscape and offers heart-snaring city views.

2. Experience shopping on another scale…

As the home of the world’s largest shopping mall, Dubai was built for spending sprees. In this giant complex, European boutiques brush shoulders with high-end designers. And, in true Dubai style, you can take a retail therapy respite to visit some slightly more adrenaline-pinching attractions. Glide around the ice rink, or dive into the shark tank at the mall’s aquarium.

For a slightly less extravagant (but equally enchanting) shopping experience, hop on a traditional abra boat and cross the Dubai Creek. On the other side, the infamous Gold Souk awaits. Like a glistening treasure trove, stalls are piled high with jewellery in infinite shades of silver and gold. Be sure to visit at night to see this area at its most captivating. Once you’ve explored the stalls, wander the streets and fully immerse yourself in this Middle Eastern holiday destination.

3. Stay up when the sun goes down…

Whether you’re gazing out onto yacht-lined ports, towering over city streets or sat a stone’s skim from the sea, a night out in Dubai is one to remember.

Lucky for those booking a yacht charter in Dubai, this city’s hottest nightlife bars can be found along the coast. Start your evening at Bahri Bar. At this Middle Eastern-inspired spot, head out to the veranda, where Persian rugs and plush sofas glow in reddish hues. Here, you can enjoy heart-snaring views of the Burj Al Arab and sultry live jazz.

A short taxi ride up the coast will bring you to celebrity hangout Buddha Bar, where you can see-and-be-seen in chic South East Asian-style surrounds. If you’re not ready to call it a night, Dubai’s clubbing scene is fast becoming one of the city’s highlights; superclub White Dubai promises world-class acts, dazzling light shows and up-all-night energy from dusk till dawn.

So on your search for winter sun, why not choose an ultra-glamorous Middle Eastern holiday destination? In Dubai, yacht charters blend seamlessly into the scenery. The future is embraced fearlessly. And luxury is taken to dizzying heights.

Food and Fashion: The Lucy Choi x Hakkasan

I was invited to review the Lucy Choi menu at Hakkasan and our food and drink was complimentary. I was not paid to attend and was not under contractual obligation to write this blog post or create content on any platform.

When two stylish brands collaborate you can guarantee that the end result is going to be pretty special… so I was excited to discover the result of the partnership between Michelin-starred restaurant, Hakkasan and iconic shoe designer Lucy Choi. Hakkasan has long been a favourite restaurant group of mine and I love their Mayfair site the most…

This occasion was particularly special as it was Oscar’s first time visiting and is was also a chance to see Lucy Choi’s gorgeous designs displayed throughout the space.
Though Lucy is known as the niece of Jimmy Choo, she is an incredible designer in her own right. The Mayfair High red stiletto pictured has been designed with the restaurant in mind, inspired by the chic guests and the importance of the colour red in Chinese culture. A different style has been inspired by the Hanway Place site and is a black flat shoe with an embroidered tiger, representing the Chinese year that Lucy was born.

Alongside the show collection is a set menu of signature Hakkasan dishes which included some of our favourites.

Starters are mixed steam dim sum including langoustine har gau with Prunier caviar, swordfish shui mai with water chestnut, king crab dumpling with peppercorn sauce, wild mushroom dumpling and a delicious selection of dips.

As well as crispy duck salad with with pomelo, pine nut and shallot – a dish that we regularly order.

Along with the food is a special cocktail created in honour of Lucy: the Choi Ling is made up of Tanqueray no. Ten gin, Sipsmith Sloe gin, lemon sherbet, rhubarb and Ruinart Rosé Champagne and is as feminine and sophisticated as Lucy’s shoe designs.

Main courses are for sharing and include stir-fry black pepper rib eye beef with Merlot, spicy prawn with lily bulb and almond and my favourite Chilean seabass in honey along with pak choi and jasmine rice.

Dessert is the Lucy Loves served in a shoe box and comprised of black tea and yuzu poached pear, ginger infusion, Dulcey cream. We loved the innovative presentation of the dish:

Quite simply the perfect synergy! We really enjoyed the Lucy Choi menu at Hakkasan, as usual a restaurant at the top of it’s game.

25 Perfect Pieces for Fall and Thanksgiving Entertaining

I can’t believe November begins on Friday. Are you ready for the holidays? If you’re not, I’ve put together some pieces to help you get ready for holiday entertaining and Thanksgiving dinner.

Start with the Ceramic Stoneware Pumpkin Cocotte above filled with hearty soup for the colder days ahead this weekend. There area also Cast-Iron Pumpkin Cocottes available.

Nothing says Thanksgiving like the Plymouth Collection but you could definitely use it all winter.

The Harvest Pumpkin Tablecloth is now 30% off so buy one for yourself and another for a friend or family member.

If you’re still using glassware from Ikea, take this opportunity to upgrade to chic vintage etched glassware. It’s on sale too.

These chic Harvest Embroidery Napkins come in a set of four and are 20% off right now.

If your spending Thanksgiving at a friend or relative’s house, why not send this Fall Pumpkin Wreath early as an early hostess/host gift. Add a wreath hanger just in case they don’t have one.

Another great hostess gift idea is bake a pie and bring it in a colorful pie plate like this Emile Henry Ruffled Pie Dish that you leave with your host or hostess.

A long time baker or even a new baker would appreciate this Pie Bakers Dream Set. Or just upgrade your own baking equipment.

Add some pizzazz to your pie crusts with this set of six Fall Pie Punches.

Upgrade your own kitchen towels and mitts or bring this Autumn Plymouth Kitchen Linens Bundle as a gift for your holiday hostess or host.

Williams-Sonoma has a great selection of pumpkin foods including many quick breads that are also available in gluten-free options. Bring one already made as a gift or leave a package as a thank you gift.

Make mini cakes in this Harvest Delights Bitelet Pan and send them home with your guests in clear bags ties with ribbon.

How often does anyone replace their measuring cups and spoons? These Harvest Pumpkin Measuring Cups and Spoons would be a fun little gift for your host or hostess.

I love these Plymouth Bird Silicone Spatulas for cooking Thanksgiving pies.

This Harvest Pumpkin Patch Kitchen Linens Bundle would allow you to greet your dinner guests in style while saving your clothes from stains. It’s another great gift idea for your host or hostess too.

You could use these Maple Leaf Condiment Plates for sauces or pats of butter for the table.

This Pheasant Feather Wreath is so beautiful that I’m tempted to buy it for my own front door.

If you’re looking for napkins you can use all winter, I like the set of four Plymouth Plaid Napkins.

If you can’t afford Buccallati silver pheasants, a pair of Pheasant Taper Holders (sold individually) or Pheasant Place Card Holders (also sold individually).

Serve a salad or pumpkin pie on these Harvest Pumpkin Salad Plates. They are sold as a set of four or individually if you like a certain pumpkin.

This Pumpkin Punch Bowl is for drinks but I think it would be a fun bowl for a pumpkin trifle.

Make a good impression on your future father-in-law by bringing a set of Plymouth Birds Decanter & Double Old-Fashioned Glasses and his favorite bottle of scotch.

I love this line of pumpkin harvest decorated paper products for the kiddie table that include Pumpkin Harvest Fall Paper Dinner PlatesPumpkin Harvest Fall Paper Dessert PlatesHarvest Pumpkins Fall Paper Luncheon Napkins, Pumpkin Harvest Fall Paper Beverage Napkins, and Pumpkin Harvest Fall Paper Cups. These would also be great for Thanksgiving weekend when you don’t want to do any more dishes. There’s even an Autumn Harvest Artificial Pumpkin with Sunflowers Mums and Pine Cones Decoration that would make a great centerpiece for the littles.

These Antique Brass Leaves Condiment Plates would be great to decorate your autumn table.

Burn this Nest Pumpkin Chai Classic Candle to add ambiance to your home for holiday gatherings.
