Food and Fashion: The Lucy Choi x Hakkasan

I was invited to review the Lucy Choi menu at Hakkasan and our food and drink was complimentary. I was not paid to attend and was not under contractual obligation to write this blog post or create content on any platform.

When two stylish brands collaborate you can guarantee that the end result is going to be pretty special… so I was excited to discover the result of the partnership between Michelin-starred restaurant, Hakkasan and iconic shoe designer Lucy Choi. Hakkasan has long been a favourite restaurant group of mine and I love their Mayfair site the most…

This occasion was particularly special as it was Oscar’s first time visiting and is was also a chance to see Lucy Choi’s gorgeous designs displayed throughout the space.
Though Lucy is known as the niece of Jimmy Choo, she is an incredible designer in her own right. The Mayfair High red stiletto pictured has been designed with the restaurant in mind, inspired by the chic guests and the importance of the colour red in Chinese culture. A different style has been inspired by the Hanway Place site and is a black flat shoe with an embroidered tiger, representing the Chinese year that Lucy was born.

Alongside the show collection is a set menu of signature Hakkasan dishes which included some of our favourites.

Starters are mixed steam dim sum including langoustine har gau with Prunier caviar, swordfish shui mai with water chestnut, king crab dumpling with peppercorn sauce, wild mushroom dumpling and a delicious selection of dips.

As well as crispy duck salad with with pomelo, pine nut and shallot – a dish that we regularly order.

Along with the food is a special cocktail created in honour of Lucy: the Choi Ling is made up of Tanqueray no. Ten gin, Sipsmith Sloe gin, lemon sherbet, rhubarb and Ruinart Rosé Champagne and is as feminine and sophisticated as Lucy’s shoe designs.

Main courses are for sharing and include stir-fry black pepper rib eye beef with Merlot, spicy prawn with lily bulb and almond and my favourite Chilean seabass in honey along with pak choi and jasmine rice.

Dessert is the Lucy Loves served in a shoe box and comprised of black tea and yuzu poached pear, ginger infusion, Dulcey cream. We loved the innovative presentation of the dish:

Quite simply the perfect synergy! We really enjoyed the Lucy Choi menu at Hakkasan, as usual a restaurant at the top of it’s game.
