FT Laurent-Perrier Summer Menu at The Dorchester Grill

What better way to celebrate Summer than with an exclusive menu, in an iconic location and accompanied by the very best champagne? Not much in my mind, so I was delighted to be invited to The Grill at The Dorchester by Champagne LaurentPerrier to taste their FT Laurent-Perrier Summer Menu.

dorchester-hotel-park-lane-londonI’m a big fan of Laurent-Perrier, having recently been to their champagne-fuelled supper club at 12 Hay Hill. As for The Dorchester Collection, we loved our stay at the iconic Hotel Eden in Rome. It’s currently being restored and I’m excited for the relaunch in 2017! As for The Dorchester itself, I’ve been to quite a few events here and am always blown away by The Promenade. It’s a wonderful place for afternoon tea and currently festooned with Wimbledon themed floral displays.

Designed by Bruno Moinard, it features a stunning Murano glass chandelier and warm tones of cream and butterscotch. There are even pivoting wall panels to create a different atmosphere by day and by night.

The exclusive Summer menu is one of 12, created by the very best London restaurants, in association with The FT and Taste of London  http://bit.ly/FTLP16). Included in the menu is a glass of LaurentPerrier Cuvée Rosé Champagne. Aged in cellars for at least 4 years, it is one of the rare rosé champagnes made using the maceration process. The result is an unusually fresh and elegant champagne with a delicate pink colour and notes of red berries.

We enjoyed a complimentary salmon mousse appetizer whilst getting to know our fellow dining companions, Josh, Tom and Abigail. Head Chef Christophe Marleix trained under famous chef Alain Ducasse, whose 3 Michelin starred restaurant at The Dorchester is extremely popular. Christophe has created a special five course menu, celebrating Summer.

a healthy Scottish salmon steak with green vegetables. Again, the vegetables were bursting with flavour.

Whilst the sauce added extra dimension to this dish, although I would have liked a little more seasoning.

The next dish was my favourite, a superb grilled organic Welsh lamb. Not surprising really as The Grill Room is renowned for the quality of its grilled food. It was served on a bed of spelt with piquillo pepper and coriander. Did you know that spelt has many health benefits, being packed with nutrients such as vitamin B2 and magnesium? That’s my excuse for eating it all, despite being pretty full by now 😉

I always enjoy lemon flavoured desserts so was intrigued to try the final course, a contemporary lemon tart. The Grill at The Dorchester is renowned for its sweet soufflé menu and this lemon tart was just as good if not better. The soft outer meringue opened to reveal a delicious lemony centre. As for the lemon sorbet, it was the perfect match.
