To mark the opening day of its Summer Studio in Sardinia, Rolls-Royce treated its invited guests to the unveiling of not one, but two bespoke cars.
Inspired by Porto Cervo marina, on the Costa Smerelda, one of the world’s most exclusive summer holiday destinations, and the location where Rolls-Royce is thanking its most valued clients for their continued loyalty, the two cars, a Dawn drop head and a Wraith coupé collectively entitled ‘Dusk until Dawn,’ are a showcase for the marque’s bespoke talents.
“Patrons of our marque delight in inhabiting some of the world’s most beautiful enclaves,” said Isobel Dando, General Manager, Future Retail, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “The stunning Bespoke Wraith and emerald embellished Dawn, inspired by the sights and colours of Porto Cervo, have been commissioned in the spirit that so many of our customers delight in.”
For the one-off Wraith, Rolls-Royce used a two-tone sliver exterior finish to perfectly reflect the changing light as the sun sets and the day moves towards dusk.
Inside, a twilight colour palate has been used for dressing the interior. The seats are finished in a rich purple ostrich leather while the wooden veneers and marquetry features slate greys and shades of black as well as mid and dark brown tones.
The Rolls-Royce Dawn takes the surrounding seascape as its exterior inspiration. It is finished in a vibrant emerald green with a subtly contrasting seashell and green leather interior.
Teak wood, like that used on the decks of the most exclusive yachts, has been used for not just the tourneau cover that shields the roof when not in use, but also to create a trunk floor mat.
The final touch is a dashboard fascia that features real emeralds and mother of pearl set into white gold.
However, the bespoke reveals will not be confined to cars. One of the clients invited to this year’s summer studio is world-renowned tattoo artist Mo Coppoletta. He was given access to the Rolls-Royce studio during the cars’ development and has used them, along with the Sardinia surroundings, as inspiration for two tattooed Rolls-Royce headrests.
“The designs I have created for Rolls-Royce evoke the emotion experienced by observing this magical place from the harbor of Promenade du Port,” Coppoletta said.
