Daily Dream Home: Harold Brown Villa
The home known as the Harold Brown Villa on Newport, Rhode Island’s prestigious Bellevue Avenue was designed by Dudley Newton in 1880. The home is sited on 4.85 acres and has a gated estate drive. The exterior is made of stone, with a formal interior executed in classical French Empire style.
The first floor features a reception hall and great room, an enclosed conservatory, two libraries, a sitting room, and a formal dining room. The second floor, accessed via a curved staircase from the great room or by elevator, includes a master bedroom and several additional bedrooms and baths.
The home’s grace notes include marble floors, columns and beautiful architectural detail across 13,962 square feet of living space. The park-like grounds were designed by the Olmsted brothers and include specimen beech trees and flowering plants.
Even more unusual is that this is the first time the home has ever been publicly offered. It was recently owned by Eileen Slocum, a famed Republican socialite who entertained former presidents Gerald Ford and George H. Bush at the home. She was locally beloved for opening the gardens of her Bellevue Avenue estate and inviting passersby to enjoy them Sundays from 12 to 6 p.m., keeping an old Newport tradition alive.
This home is listed for $5.9 million with Lila Delman and is showcased by Luxury Portfolio.

5 of the best safaris in Africa
In the past, a safari (the Swahili word for ‘journey’, itself derived from the Arabic ‘safar’ meaning the same) was an overland journey to hunt big-game. These days it more often refers to short trips to observe and photograph wildlife. Thankfully, killing the subject matter and taking trophies is no longer considered essential. Here are […]

Top Things to Do in Seville, Spain: A Guided Tour Experience
Seville is very easy to fall in love with once your eyes settle on the colorful buildings, cobblestone streets, and charming locals. It was easily one of my favorite stops when I was touring the beautiful Andalucía region with Toma and Coe. My guide Matt was a joy to be around and I felt very lucky getting to see Seville through his eyes. Here are some of my highlights from the trip that any person visiting Seville should not miss out on!
Seville Cathedral & Giralda Tower:
The sheer size of Seville’s Cathedral will take your breathe away immediately. The Giralda Tower is very striking from the outside and is absolutely worth a visit too. It’s the cathedral’s iconic belltower which offers stunning panoramic views of the whole city.
Construction started on the cathedral in the 1400’s and it was completed over 100 years later in 1507. Its original purpose was to show off the city’s wealth and power which it still does to this day. I also found it fascinating that it is built over the site of a 12th century mosque and some of its remains can still be seen. For example, there are bronze doors from the 1100’s which have inscriptions from the Koran. There are so many different layers of history in this place.
Once inside, you’ll notice a lot of the tourists gathered around a grand monument with four ornate statues holding a coffin. This is the burial place of Christopher Columbus, Spain’s most famous explorer. This tomb is very impressive and like the cathedral itself, it’s huge. In fact, Seville Cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and the third-largest church in the world! You can easily spend half a day inside.
Alcázar & Murillo Gardens:
The Alcázar is a magnificent fortress-palace which was built by King Pedro I in the 14th century. I learned that it is the oldest royal residence in Europe still in use! When the current King Felipe and Queen Letizia visit Seville, they stay at the Alcázar. Apart from the stunning Alhambra palace in Granada, the Alcázar contains some of the best examples of 14th century Mudejar architecture used by the Moors.
Take your time exploring the ancient palace rooms as there are just so many beautiful details to admire. But make sure you save enough time to stroll through the Murillo Gardens which are quite extensive and incredibly beautiful! There are so many different sections in the garden that represents Islamic, Renaissance and Romantic influences; not to mention there are over 20,000 plants to admire! I found the Murillo Gardens to be such a tranquil place that’s right in the middle of the city. You get to enjoy the best of both worlds in Seville.
Plaza de España:
A visit to Seville just isn’t complete without visiting the impressive Plaza de España. In 1929, Seville hosted the Ibero-American Exposition and this plaza was built as the centerpiece for it. You’ll notice a mix of 1920’s Art Deco with “mock mudéjar” which you can see at the Alcázar. It was built to wow visitors back then and it’s definitely still doing that today! On any given day, you’ll find tourists rowing boats, horse drawn carriages, and locals enjoying the grand space. I’d highly recommend visiting during the golden hour which is about 60 minutes before the sun sets. The sunlight shines so beautifully on the plaza and it’s the ideal time to take photographs.
Barrio Santa Cruz:
You can’t leave Seville without exploring the Barrio Santa Cruz. This neighborhood is in the heart of Seville and is the former Jewish quarter of the medieval city. It is a labyrinth of narrow streets and alleys that are so much fun to wander around. Getting lost in Seville isn’t bad at all when the streets are so charming! However, my trusty guide Matt knew his way around very well and pointed out the best spots for great photo opportunities.
After lots of walking, be sure to relax on one of the beautiful tiled benches or sit outside an old bar to enjoy some tapas for lunch or dinner. I’d highly recommend ending the day at a Flamenco show at the Museo del Baile Flamenco.
Whether you’re interested in historical sites, beautiful architecture, amazing food or nightlife, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in beautiful Seville!

Zebra Wooden Boat
Inspired by the classic 1947 Sea Maid Wooden Ski Boat, French industrial engineer Dimitri Bez has created a concept by blending timeless design with modern technology. His Zebra Wooden Boat ($NA) begins with construction from traditional materials such as wood, leather, & chrome.
The wooden slats that cover the bias are laid in an alternating diagonal pattern (hence the name) that continues in the bright orange seats & cushions to unify the transition from hard to soft surfaces. Chrome trim throughout finishes the sleek aesthetic.
Sitting beside the steering wheel and retro controls on the dashboard is a curved touchscreen that serves as both navigational support and a video entertainment monitor. We further hear that the watercraft can hold up to 10 people and is powered by a ‘powerful’ electric motor. While not slated for production at this time, the Zebra Boat is a fine example of how old and new can come together to create striking, beautiful art – the kind you can take for a sprint.

TriLens Holster
Every professional photographer has experienced the problem of keeping up with multiple lenses and having to switch them out quickly as needed. Swedish startup Frii Designs has developed a belt-worn holster made of steel & fiber-reinforced nylon that allows you to carry 3 lenses at once.
The TriLens Holster ($98) mounts the lenses in a triangular pattern that rotates 360 degrees around a common center. In this configuration, the heaviest lens will hang to the bottom while the open lens mount is accessible on the top. There is a built-in stabilization system that helps prevent excess bumping. The lenses are held securely enough you can even do backflips without losing one.
The holster is heavy-duty enough that it can support up to 100 kilograms (220 lbs!) to handle whatever size lens you need. Compatible with Sony, Nikon, and Canon lenses and comes with magnets for attaching the lens cap to the open mount, thus preventing dust, dirt, or water from getting into the empty slot. Details in the video.

Alchemix Rapid Liquor Infuser & Carbonator
Washington State’s Host Studios has just made it much easier for you to create your favorite specialty drinks in your own home bar. Their Alchemix Rapid Liquor Infuser & Carbonator ($80) looks much like a standard cocktail shaker but the strainer lid is replaced by a device that can either infuse hard-to-mix ingredients into drinks via pressurized N2O cartridges or add carbonization with CO2.
The Alchemix is easy to use. Just add your ingredients to the clear BPA-free Tritan plastic chamber, screw on the strainer and valve assembly, insert the appropriate single-use cartridge and screw on the top till it punctures the gas canister. Shake gently and wait two minutes. Remove and pour through the built-in strainer and enjoy.
Each Alchemix gas cartridge will make about four infused cocktails or one fizzy carbonated drink. Host Studios even has a special recipe book available with ideas on how you can use the Alchemix to improve all your liquor drinks or even carbonate your wine! Details in the video.

Lowball 2: The Pinch
Discommon Goods are dedicated to helping designers realize some of their wildest and most interesting concepts. They have produced straight razors, a watch wallet, and even a Ferrari piston keychain. They also created a machined aluminum whiskey tumbler so popular it sold out in days.
Now as a sequel to that fantastic container, they have released the Discommon Goods Lowball 2 and named it ‘The Pinch’ ($280) in honor of its shape that is pinched to sit ergonomically regardless of how you hold it.
Made of CNC aerospace grade aluminum the Lowball 2 snifter has an hourglass-shaped inner chamber that allows savoring the aroma of the drink just before it hits your lips. The inside also has an inert coating to prevent contamination of your drink, while the outer surface features a chiseled texture that not only looks snazzy but also aids in holding the glass firmly.
