Thirteen and Company Presents Part II Of The Revered Amber Series

With a goal to design a motorcycle that was approachable to any rider, Thirteen and Company’s custom built 1977 Honda CB550, displayed a real balance of maturity, elegance, and attitude. Following the success of the first model, dubbed ‘Amber’, in 2016, the bike’s second instalment launches four years later. Born out of an LA-based workshop run by Kyle Vara, the Amber II represents its creator’s continuous desire to better himself as a craftsman.

Thirteen and Company Presents Part II Of The Revered Amber Series

Presenting a more precise and polished finish, the Amber II began with a restoration that went all the way down to the nuts and bolts, featuring a clean café build, put together with a stock displacement piston kit, new camshaft, and a set of bearings, seals and gaskets – this new and improved bike showcases a stainless steel replacement exhaust, alongside a re-fabricated rear chassis, frame and swing arm.

Handmade with reclaimed Italian leather, the seat was designed to match its imported Italian grips, and brushed steel tank, which were both professionally clear coated to resemble a dense, deep, glass-like finish. Adapting the original fuel tank whilst sculpturally reshaping and extending it with a fabricated tail bump, the Amber II boasts a smooth, curvaceous line from front to back, only interrupted by its sunken seat.

Masterfully incorporating a single 7-inch headlight, refurbished controls and switches, motogadget electronics, a line of LED taillights, and overhauled wheels with chromed DID rims and spokes, the Amber series successfully broadens Thirteen and Company’s product range, through breaking the mould and diversifying them from the usual edgy, race-inspired build.

Multicoloured Gucci Rhyton GG monogram sneakers makes “dad” sneakers hype

Big and bold, though your father’s suits are no longer en trend, “Dad” sneakers are totally de rigeur this season; Gucci‘s audacious Rhyton sneaker is kicking things up a notch with two GG monogram-printed editions. Following on the heels (no pun intended) of Gucci Rhyton “Brick Red” style from March earlier this year, these new multicoloured Gucci Rhyton GG monogram sneakers take Gucci’s satisfyingly chunky Rhyton silhouette and breaks up the expansive, expressive canvas with a colourful palette of brown and blue GG print panels, reflective trims, yellow accents, a logo label on the tongue and a chunky white and pink rubber sole.

Multicoloured Gucci Rhyton GG monogram sneakers makes “Dad” sneakers totally hype

While the previous Gucci Rhyton “Brick Red” sits squarely in the lap of luxury heritage with a “Beige/Ebony” smart-casual look, the new multicoloured Gucci Rhyton GG monogram sneakers offers a more summer-ready look, with the hype of branded motifs rendered in the brand’s signature waxed cotton completed with the brand’s logo stamped onto the cut panels.

The upper of the multicoloured Gucci Rhyton GG monogram sneakers is a mixed medium of  monochromatic GG monograms paired with a light beige tongue, contrasted by bright yellow highlights and then slightly muted with a light beige tongue and matched by cream-coloured laces while navy sidewalls and reflective strips take up the forefoot. Other details like crisp full-grain leather, additional “GG” branding, a thick articulated white midsole and a pink outsole round off the shoe’s intricate design.

Made in Italy and designed in a low top silhouette, the Gucci Rhyton sneaker is round toe style with a chunky white and pink rubber sole. The House’s emblematic sneaker was revisited as part of the Spring Summer 2020 collection where styles worked together to create Alessandro’s language of self-expression.

Defined by a thick sole and chunky construction, the Rhyton is presented in a mix of monogram archival fabrics reimagined through the avant garde designer’s hybrid design narrative. To abuse a quote from Roman statesman Cicero, ‘A room without books is like a body without a soul.’  One dreads to think what a closet without Gucci would be like.

Sparks Architects Construct A Defiant Object In A Windswept Landscape

The Spinnaker House

A quest for equilibrium shapes and fuels the practice of Sparks Architects, their craft is often characterised by an unparalleled balance between work and personal life, apparent by the collective team’s move from a five to a four-day work week. Known best for their construction of the Ridge House in 2015 which featured rammed-earth walls and spotted gum timbers, the design firm continues to conceptualise enviable residencies.

The Spinnaker House

Completed in 2018, the Spinnaker House marks the firm’s most recent project, which reconciles another monumental setting on a precarious site. Perched over the edge of an escarpment on Hervey Bay, Queensland, the Spinnaker House seeks to balance the visual opportunities of the landscape, while providing sanctuary from the windy coastal environment.

The Spinnaker House

Defined by the site’s topography, orientation, exposure to the elements and its surrounding landscape, the building responds through systems of blocking and filtering, incorporating walls of sliding glass, screens, and large scale automated clerestories, to create a spatial dynamic, reminiscent of a full sail, or a Spinnaker. Standing parallel to the sloped ground, the continuity of its roof and wall, stabilize its position, as the house itself represents a defiant object in a windswept landscape.

Pascale Monté-Papée Peers Into The Colourful Soul of Asia

A world traveler and esteemed artist, Pascale Monté-Papée is an avid photographer who’s seen and captured a great deal of the world. Having lived in China, Senegal and Saudi Arabia, the Singapore-based shutterbug graces the lion city republic’s shores once again with an all-new exhibition, entitled ‘Soul of Asia’.

Pascale Monté-Papée Peers Into The Colourful Soul of Asia

« Jade the sleeping beauty » Myanmar

Seeking to uncover the mysteries of each intimate, unconscious and emotional encounter, Pascale Monté-Papée showcases a series of diverse historic, cultural and religious portraits from India and Burma. Through depicting “authentic and lively places”, Pascale’s subjects are a matter of fate.

« Magnetic stare » India Rajasthan

What is the meaning of « Soul of Asia » the title of your next exhibition?

“Soul of Asia” is an imaginary name for me. The largest continent on earth, which includes countries such as China, India, Japan, Burma, and the countries of the Middle East. These countries are extremely different in their history, culture, religion and their diversity. By daring to speak of the soul of Asia and starting with India and Burma, I plan to give them a very special place. As a photographer, beyond what is palpable in a photo, what I seek to reveal in a portrait, in a look, is this part of the invisible, of the mystery which come from the intimate, from the unconscious, the emotions, and the chemistry of an encounter.

Even, if I have a preference for black and white, for “Soul of Asia” with regards to India and Burma, I wonder how it would have been possible to testify of these profusions of colours and lights …. Without colour ! In India, they are bright and luminous: saris, turbans, house walls, spices, tuk-tuks and even the horns of sacred cows. Without counting all the symbolism of colours. For example, a woman in Rajasthan who wears a yellow sari is the symbol of the renewal and the birth of an heir. Yellow is also the colour of divine light. In a different style, Burma is a country of a thousand colours with its five hundred thousand monks dressed in their garnet or saffron robe, the nuns dressed in gold and pink, the transparent and blue waters of Inle Lake, the rice fields, the ethnic groups each with their colourful traditional costume, the betel red smiles and the famous beauty secrets of Thanaka.

« Tender call » India Jodhpur

How do you choose your characters?

I do not have a pre-established program, I am just looking for authentic and lively places, where we meet the inhabitants: atmospheres of markets or stations, places for walks in the countryside with the activity of the villagers. I work a lot with intuition, crush, in the snapshot. I like to be surprised by the beauty of a look, the emotion of a smile, an expression, a moment of complicity.
