The Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood – Luxury At Its Finest

Photo by The Diplomat Beach Resort - Oceanfront Corner Suite

The Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood, a Curio Collection by Hilton property, recently underwent an impressive 100 million dollar transformation.  And let me just say, they did a fabulous job!  The resort creates a destination hotel for all travelers by offering unparalleled experiences through a variety of activities, dining options, and meeting spaces for grand celebrations.

The Diplomat has always been a local favorite go-to resort for staycations, as well as being the perfect location to host large events with 209,000 sq. ft. of meeting space ideal for large conferences, weddings and milestone celebrations.

The beautiful renovations also included their luxury guest rooms. I visited the property for a one night stay and found it very hard to check out.

FIRST IMPRESSION

When you first walk in you feel like you are in a tropical oasis surrounded by live palm trees and island style furniture.  The reception area is immediately to the right once you walk in.  Check in was a breeze, and as a Hilton Honors member I even got free WIFI.

OUR SUITE AT THE DIPLOMAT BEACH RESORT

With 1000 rooms – including 96 suites – The Diplomat Beach Resort is the largest hotel in Broward County.  Our room was a corner Ocean Suite located on the 27th floor. It had a huge living room area with a desk, and a high top dining table for four. The floor to ceiling windows made the room very light and airy.  The bedroom was off the dining area with a comfy oversize love seat and a walk-in closet.

The main bathroom was located inside the bedroom area.  It featured a soaking tub and rain shower.  The vanity was large enough for me and my husband to spread out with our toiletry bags.  It had a nice make-up mirror which I thoroughly appreciated since I have a hard time putting on my make-up without one.

The room also has a mini refrigerator which doesn’t come fully stocked,  so I used it to cool the two bottles of water that were given to us upon check in.  The coffee maker was a favorite of my husband, John.  He loves to make coffee first thing when he wakes up in the morning.

For me, the best feature of the Ocean Suite was the balcony and the views of the ocean and pool below.  In the evening it was nice to sit outside, stare into the sky and enjoy the cool ocean breezes.

MANY DINING AND BAR OPTIONS

The hotel has many dining options – 10 to be exact!  If you cross the bridge outside the hotel entrance you end up in The Diplomat Landings area where you will find the Portico Beer & Wine Garden with incredible views of the Intercoastal Waterways.  It’s a pleasant location to watch the sunset and enjoy a glass of wine.  They also offer a light Italian menu, for those who are looking for a snack.

If you enjoy fishing, the resort’s private marina features fishing, along with sailing charters and a water taxi stop.  Or, if you want to relax, you can just grab a seat and admire the sunsets. Additionally, the marina offers daily, overnight and weekly deep water dockage and service for yachts.

Bristol’s Burgers is another family favorite among guests. You have a choice of sitting indoors or outdoors.  We thought the outdoors sitting area was very relaxing with the views of the Intercoastal Waterways.  They are famous for their burgers, and also offer salads and shakes.

Back across to the main hotel area you will find the Diplomat Prime known for its steaks aged in-house, and its chef driven, seasonal menu with an extensive wine list.

For afternoon snacks or the evening munchies The Canteen is the place to go.  It’s located in the lobby near the reception area.  It’s a convenience food store where guest can purchase anything from soft drinks to snacks.

One of our favorite places to unwind was The Hotel Bar which is the center hub of the hotel.  It’s open day and night, you can sit either indoors or outdoors. They offer signature cocktails from hotels around the world.

The highlight of our stay at The Diplomat Beach Resort was dinner in the new Point Royal Restaurant.  We had heard a lot about their celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian who had been lured back to South Florida for this restaurant, so we walked in full of excitement. Newly renovated, the Point Royal certainly did not disappoint. The decor, experience, and especially the food was all top-notch. Complimentary valet parking is available to all who dine in which is always a plus!

For breakfast the next morning we went back to Point Royal Restaurant which offers guest a buffet selection of fresh fruits, pastries, and a omelette station.

If you prefer to grab a muffin for a quick breakfast, next door to Point Royal you will find Counter Point offering gourmet grab-and-go options like coffee, home-made pastries, and sandwiches.

POOLS AND ACTIVITIES

After breakfast you can relax in a day bed on the beach or cabana by their beachfront infinity pool, which sits atop two waterfalls cascading into a free form lagoon pool below.  They offer water sports for rentals.  Another option is that you can sneak off to indulge in a treat at the Diplomat Spa or enjoy a round of championship golf at the Diplomat Golf and Tennis Club.
