Lovely Layered Loft

Neal Beckstedt designed a small but impressive room in this year’s Kips Bay Decorator Show House so it was interesting to come across what he can do on a larger scale on Architectural Digest this week. I’m not always a fan of contemporary architecture, especially when it’s too cold and angular but has managed to make this Soho loft look layered and inviting. The warm shades of wood and leather along with the textured rugs and fabrics create an elegant backdrop for the owner’s impressive art collection. It doesn’t hurt that much of the furniture is highly collectible in its own right and pieces from Jean Prouvé, Poul Kjaerholm, Charlotte Perriand, among others. Looks like a very lovely loft in which to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
