After making a jaw-dropping appearance at the Met Gala 2015, Beyonce is back in news along with her husband for purchasing a property in New Orleans. While Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are selling off their French Quarter home in Louisiana, Beyonce and Jay Z have invested $2.6 million in a church-turned-mansion in The Big Easy. The new home in the Garden District of New Orleans was once a place of worship as the former Presbyterian church was built in 1925 and also served as a ballet school. The 13,292-square-foot home with 26-foot ceilings and three 1,000-square-foot apartments spreads over three stories. Home to a total of twenty-two rooms including seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms, the La Casa de Castille at 1527 Harmony St. also features a step-up dining room, a loft-style sitting room and a library with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. The master suite comes in with a walk-in closet and the bathroom holds a massive, old-style wooden vanity, a large antique bathtub and a separate shower. The property also comes with a green roof planted with grass that serves as a yard with views over downtown.
After its stint as a church and a ballet school, the building was converted for residential use in 2000. While the altar has been transformed in to the dining area and the third-floor-choir loft has been redesigned in to master suite. Original features include hardwood floors, columns and molding throughout. The powerhouse couple has purchased the $2.6 million property under the name of Sugarcane Park LLC, which shares the same mailing address as Beyonce’s management company.
