I fell in love with the story of Castello di Potentino in T Magazine this weekend. If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a villa in Tuscany, this story is a bit of a cautionary tale of just how much work it can take to bring back a “bedraggled historic estate” to its former glory. Charlotte Horton, her mother Sally Greene, and her half brother Alexander Greene, were undaunted and hired the Florence-based architect Bolko von Schweinichen, who also redid the nearby Villa Cetinale, to help them. The rustically elegant result is a working winery, event location, and hotel that also sells their own products. Now you can sit back and enjoy Castello di Potentino without having to do any of the heavy lifting. Sounds like the perfect way to live out your “Under the Tuscan Sun” dreams.
