Whether it is a staycation in 2020, or a future trip to Florida, an escape to Little Palm Island Resort & Spa is guaranteed to be an unforgettable one. This 4-acre, luxury private island is located on the gorgeous Florida Keys coastline, with their charming bungalows nestled amongst lush greenery. I did have the pleasure of staying at Little Palm Island 8 years ago, and you can read all about that wonderful experience here. After many years of extensive design and restoration after hurricane damage, Little Palm Island is better than ever before!

The Arrival Experience:
Arriving at Little Palm Island is such a fun experience, as you can only access this island paradise by sea-plane or their private boat. We drove to the shore station located in Little Torch Key, where we were greeted with welcome cocktails during the check-in process. After, we boarded their charming private boat called Truman and took a 10-minute boat journey to the island resort.
Once there, one of their lovely representatives greets you and gives you a tour of the property. They take your bags directly to your bungalow for you.
Even though we were only a few hours away from home, we immediately felt transported to a Caribbean island. After all, the interior and exterior designs here are inspired by the Caribbean with a modern British West Indies flair.
We were also welcomed with captivating ocean views from almost every direction. I was happy to learn that there are no telephones or televisions inside the resort’s 30 bungalow suites. For an even more peaceful and romantic escape, no guests under the age of 18 are allowed at Little Palm Island Resort.
Luxury Bungalows:
Once we reached our Island Escape Suite bungalow, I immediately noticed our last name posted outside the bungalow near the entrance stairs. Personal touches like these are always appreciated, and this definitely sets Little Palm Island apart from many other resorts. Every single one of their luxury island suites are fully redesigned, and make the perfect home-away-from-home for any traveler seeking privacy and comfort.
What’s absolutely striking and different than most resorts I’ve stayed in are the thatched roofs and vaulted ceilings in our bungalow. This really opens up this warm and inviting space, making it seem even more spacious. We enjoyed an Island Escape Suite at Little Palm Island which comes with stunning ocean views (as do all of the bungalows), a charming living area, four-poster bed, and more. I loved the little details like a chess board in the living room and a mini bar which includes complimentary non-alcoholic drinks.
In the bathroom, not only is there an elegant Boudoir tub, but you can also enjoy both an indoor and outdoor shower!
Speaking of the outside, our bungalow came with a private furnished deck where you can take in the gorgeous surroundings of your personal paradise. We also had our very own private ocean front garden with two lounge chairs.
Outdoor Dining at its Finest:
You are in for a real treat when it comes to dining, especially outdoors, at Little Palm Island Resort. The Dining Room, the resort’s breathtaking restaurant, has been reinvented and is ready for guests to enjoy fantastic views and culinary masterpieces. At one point, The Dining Room was named the Best Hotel Dining in Florida, along with #3 Restaurant in the U.S. by Zagat. In other words, you will be very impressed!
The Dining Room is available to resort guests and off-island visitors 18 and older; they’re open daily for breakfast lunch, dinner, as well as their famous Sunday Brunch and other special gastronomic events throughout the year. Here the seafood, produce, spices, and more are sourced from the islands to create a menu worthy of paradise.
There’s several choices when it comes to where you want to dine. There’s intimate indoor and outdoor seating in The Dining Room, and I enjoyed eating breakfast every morning outside while hearing the waves crash in the background. I’d personally recommend ordering their Eggs Benedict or French Toast to get your day started off right! If you prefer a more intimate and special experience, definitely request their Private Dining options.
We enjoyed dinner directly at Sandy Point one evening, which is on the beach and under the stars. I loved the glow of the tiki torches once it got dark, it’s a very romantic atmosphere.
There’s also the choice of the Chef’s Table, located in an elegant enclave in the kitchen of The Dining Room. The Harbor Point is another private dining location on the white sand beach. And if you don’t want to leave the comfort of your bungalow, in-room dining can be set up inside your living area or even on your private deck! In other words, you get to pick the location, and Little Palm Island Resort will make it perfect.
Finding Relaxation:
At Little Palm Island, you have the option of lounging on a white sand beach, or taking a dip in their pool just steps away which resembles a crystal clear lagoon. I’m more of a pool girl, so I loved lounging there in the afternoons but also being able to see the ocean from where I was by the pool. The best of both worlds!
But for those who can’t sit still and enjoy physical activity on vacation, there’s plenty for you to do as well! Little Palm Island Resort provides kayaks and paddle boards that guests can take out onto the water and enjoy.
SpaTerre is also the perfect place to recharge with a luxurious treatment and more ocean views. This is the inner sanctuary of Little Palm Island where you can enjoy a world-class spa featuring a 2-story atrium. The carved architectural details and handcrafted tile fountain are beautiful. My husband enjoyed one of their muscle releasing, deep tissue massages.
At Spaterre, they use various massage techniques with an organic Muscle Release oil that really helps facilitate muscle recovery, and relieve any soreness. CBD treatments are popular here as well, along with body rituals using sustainable sourced seaweed that are custom-designed to make you feel completely relaxed and recharged.
Conclusion:
This staycation was the perfect option for us in 2020, where social distancing is very important. At Little Palm Island, they call it tropical distancing!
And it is all too easy here with 4 acres, 30 suites, private decks, gardens, beach and more. You can be as isolated as you like. With no telephones, televisions, or guests under the age of 18, Little Palm Island Resort is the perfect location for a romantic getaway, or simply an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
