Kim Jones had unveiled his new Dior Fall/Winter 2022 menswear collection on Friday (January 21) and featured an unexpected guest: Birkenstock.
The collaboration sees the humble clog receiving a high fashion makeover. It sees two Birkenstock models being reimagined — Tokio Mule and Milano Sandal — in butter-soft grey felt and brown lambskin. The clogs were designed by Thibo Denis, the designer behind the Dior B27 sneaker.

The two clogs have been reinforced with a rubber toe as a tribute to Monsieur Dior’s passion for gardening, the clogs appear extremely functional with their rubber details and industrial buckles. And to top it off, the tonal outsole is embossed with Dior and Birkenstock co-branding.
And of course, one surprise wasn’t enough, a special edition of the Tokio Mule was revealed. Embroidered with delicate flowers by the Vermont atelier represent Monsieur Dior’s love for nature. The Dior and Birkenstock collaboration is a gorgeous combination of function and elegance.
Other fashion footwear collaborations include the highly coveted Louis Vuitton and Nike “Air Force 1” by Virgil Abloh sneakers. The sneakers will make its debut through a Sotheby’s auction. The bidding will begin at US$2,000 on the Sotheby’s website held from 26 January to 8 February 2022, with a total of 200 special edition pairs auctioned off.
