From the Model A Fords to Datsun Group Z Sports cars, the first ever Los Angeles Classic Auto Show promises an automotive treat for all vehicular tastes.
In all, the inaugural show, which opens its doors from January 27 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, will play host to over $137 million worth of historic cars and welcome over 35 classic car clubs from around the US.
One of the star attractions will be the Grand Boulevard display charting the evolution of the automobile over 100 years and 50 models. The showcase will include a 1929 Rolls-Royce from the Petersen Museum plus a 1929 Bentley 4.5-liter Tourer Vanden Pass from Bruce Mayer’s collection.
One of America’s most renowned car collectors, Mayer will also be present at the show as its official Grand Marshall. “Bringing The Classic Auto Show to Los Angeles, the real car capital of the world, is a natural and it brings us all together to celebrate,” said Meyer. “I look forward to meeting fellow car lovers and sharing our enthusiasm.”
The Historic Vehicle Association is also one of the show’s major sponsors and it will be bringing a selection of suitably fascinating and geographically relevant vehicles.
These will include a 1964 Meyers Manx, built using the running gear, engine and underpinnings of a VW Beetle and universally considered the world’s first fiberglass dune buggy; plus a very special Willys Jeep CJ-6. The 1962 off-roader was none other than former President Reagan’s personal on-ranch runaround and was a Christmas present from Nancy in 1963.
In terms of celebrity guests, this year’s show will welcome custom car designer and builder extraordinaire Chip Foose, who will be appearing alongside his onscreen sidekick and “Overhaulin'” co-host, Chris Jacobs.
Jacobs will also be fulfilling the role of show host and compare, welcoming and interviewing the event’s other guests.
They include Dave Kindig (Kindig-It Design) and legendary restorer Wayne Carini. While with Mike Brewer, one half of television’s “Wheeler Dealers” team will also be making an appearance at this year’s classic car show. What’s more, each guest is scheduled to appear on every show day.
The 2017 Classic Auto Show runs January 27-29. Tickets cost $30 for adults and $12 for children.
