People have strong opinions about vintage rugs in kitchens. Some think it’s a dumb idea because of crumbs and spills but the rest of us think they look very chic and practicality be dammed. Amber Interiors used one in her Ojai project above. I just bought a vintage Oushak runner for my own kitchen but I’m waiting for it to arrive. If you are thinking of buying one, keep in mind that the sizes of vintage Oushak rugs and runner are all different. You need to figure out a range of sizes that might work for you and measure in your space before clicking buy. One person taped out the size they thought would work in their kitchen to give them a guide. You will definitely need a rug pad so no one goes flying and might have to vacuum daily if you cook a lot. Only you can decide if it’s worth the hassle but you have to admit that they do look really good.
