The beloved Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 ‘Wave Runner’ hits the shelves again starting 22 March. First introduced in 2017, Ye (formerly Kanye West) ushered in the dad shoe movement with this chunky pair of sneakers. Throughout the years, Adidas has come out with different ‘Wave Runner’ iterations. The forthcoming colourway will be the sixth reintroduction.
The past releases saw the ‘Wave Runner’ in colour schemes of Fade Azure, Inertia and Wash Orange. However, the original grey mesh uppers with black suede overlay panels and blue panels at the forefoot still prove to be a hot favourite amongst collectors. Other details of the OG pair include the neon yellow shoelaces, white Boost cushioned midsole with orange hits on the heel and a black rubber outsole.
When the ‘Wave Runner’ was first released, it was not well-received because the silhouette of the sneakers was vastly different from the more popular ones. However, the oversubscribed pre-orders shut down all the nay-sayers. It became the most popular pair of sneakers worn by celebrities and influencers. The ‘Wave Runner’ even made it to the Yeezy Hall of Fame.
Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 ‘Wave Runner’ will be restocked on 22 March and true to Ye’s words, “Everybody who wants to get Yeezys will get Yeeyzs!”. Head over to GOAT or Flight Club to secure yourself a pair of the ever-popular ‘Wave Runner’. Shop more Yeezys here.
