Earlier this month on 4 April 2022, Bugatti released news that the Chiron Super Sport units are now rolling out of the Molsheim Atelier.
The hyper sports car was first revealed back in June 2021, and following that was an intense, multi-year development and testing program. Build slots for the automobile marvel have all been reserved with an extensive waiting list.

Touted as “the embodiment of supreme aerodynamic efficiency,” each carbon fibre surface has been pored over to extract high performance without compromise. Its longtail silhouette prominently distinguishes the derivative within the Chiron family. At the same time, the Chiron Super Sport did not neglect luxury and comfort within the cabin either.
The Chiron Super Sport’s beating heart generates 1,600 PS due to a thoroughly overhauled version of Bugatti’s famous 8.0-litre W16 engine. It can reach up to 440 km/h effortlessly and is currently the most powerful pure-combustion production car from a heritage automaker.
The manufacturer’s expert engineers developed and fitted larger quad-turbochargers, along with an enhanced oil pump, cylinder head, and valve train. According to Robb Report, the hyper sports car can accelerate from zero to 124 mph in 5.8 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 273 mph, which makes the Chiron Super Sport one of the fastest production vehicles of all time.
In enabling total confidence at top speed, Bugatti worked incredibly hard on the car’s chassis and suspension — the steering was revised, its electronically controlled chassis returned, and harder springs were added to ensure complete stability.

Christophe Piochon, president of Bugatti Automobiles, commented: “It’s extremely exciting to be witnessing the first customer units of the Chiron Super Sport come together within our Atelier. Hearing brand new 8.0-liter W16 engines fire up for the first time, knowing that they are soon to become a centerpiece of our customers’ collections across the globe is a personal highlight.”
One of the very first Chiron Super Sports to arrive has gotten a bespoke ‘Vagues de Lumière’ paintwork from Bugatti’s Sur Mesure customisation program. The pattern is hand-painted in orange against metallic blue and echoes the way lights reflect off Chiron Super Sport’s curved panels.
Meanwhile, the car’s interiors are in orange leather offset by aluminium and carbon-fibre trim and accents. Its intricate and stunning style is a genuine “demonstration of the extent to which customers are able to make each Bugatti their own”.
“The experience of driving a Chiron Super Sport cannot be compared to anything else the automotive industry has to offer, and we very much look forward to our customers covering many unforgettable miles behind the wheel,” Piochon added.
Elsewhere in the automotive world, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its last collaboration with the late fashion designer Virgil Abloh. Named Maybach by Virgil Abloh, the car is a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S680 model and will run for a limited quantity of 150 units.
