Top Ten Things to Do on Petit St. Vincent Private Island

Petit St. Vincent Private Island; a perfect slice of paradise just south of St. Vincent in the Grenadine Islands. You may think what is there to do when deserted Robinson Crusoe-like on a private island with just 22 luxury cottages and no WIFI? Well trust me you definitely won’t get bored…here’s my top ten things to do Petit St. Vincent Private Island, part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

1. Enjoy your beautiful cliff top or beach front cottage

Everyone of the 22 one and two bedroom cliff-top or beach front cottages at Petit St. Vincent is a free standing structure nestled in it’s own private and exclusive area.

And a panoramic view or access straight to the beach, every cottage is a little different…
But one thing that they all have in common is no TV and no WIFI allowing guests to switch off from the trapping of modern life. 
Instead there’s a selection of books in the room and a small library in reception that you can enjoy whilst swinging in your hammock or just take a nap as the Caribbean sun touches your skin.

2. Enjoy the Beach

There approximately two miles of powder white sands encircling the emerald island of Petit St Vincent and you can opt to take a slow stroll across the shore or relax on one of the teak loungers or hammocks.

One thing’s for certain is that you’ll be enjoying the beach in almost total privacy.

3. Incredible Views

Truly an island paradise! As well as beautiful beaches, Petit St. Vincent is blessed with lush hillsides. Take one of the hotel’s signature Mini Moke’s to the top of the hill to admire the forests and turquoise waters.

You can also take in to perspective just how private and far apart the cottages are. Here you can see cottage two and three, my own cottage one was in the other side of the hill! 
Take a hike up 275 foot Marni Hill to see all this beautiful greenery in all it’s glory and for a glimpse of the surrounding islands. 
Remember to bring trainers and try to go early in the morning whilst it’s cool.

4. Go Shopping!

Ok, on a private island there’s no much choice when it comes to shopping but the beach front boutique is stocked up with souvenirs, swimwear, sun cream and all your other beach essentials
You can forget about high heels and designer dresses anyway, it’s time to get used to island life!

5. Spa Time!

The Hillside Spa at PSV is an experience not to be missed! Four open air treatment rooms are scattered through the hill tops so that you can enjoy gorgeous views as you experience Balinese inspired treatments that use natural ingredients extracted in the Caribbean.

6. Eat and Drink

Meal times are taken very seriously at Petit St. Vincent particularly as the general manager is a former chef. There’s two restaurants on the island and guests can choose between the Main Pavilion for fine dining.

Or the beach restaurant for more casual dining.

But the great thing about Petit St. Vincent is that you can pretty much dine anywhere where whether that’s on the terrace of your cottage, on the Atlantic pier or the Westend Beach. 
Plus room service and beach service can be easily ordered via the famous flag pole system. 
What ever you choose you can guarantee freshness as many of the ingredients come from the hotel’s garden. And if you like a drink, there’s over 4,500 varieties of the wine in the cellar as well as a collection of rum.

If cocktails are more your thing then Goatie’s bar is the place to go – it’s also the perfect position for watching the sunset.

7. Keep Fit

It may be the last thing on your mind when relaxing in paradise but at least you know that it’s an option. 
Guests can work out using the equipment in their room.

Join in with yoga on the beach at one of the two pavilions.

Or check out the fitness trail. There’s also a tennis court, football games with the staff and golf enthusiasts can visit the 18-hole course on nearby Canouan Island.

8. Meet the Wildlife

It’s not hard to meet new friends of the feathered / finned or shelled variety at PSV as it’s home to creatures of all shapes and sizes. 
Baby turtles live near reception.

Friendly goats can be found chewing on the grass.
Slightly scary crabs scurry through the sand.

Over two hundred chickens can be found in the hotel’s kitchen garden. 
The birds join you for breakfast but watch out cos they might just steal your pancakes!

9. Watersport

The Dive centre in partnership with Jean-Michel Cousteau offers PADI courses at all levels or you can check out the non-motorised equipment such as kayaks, Hobie Cats, Sunfish, windsurfers and snorkeling gear which are all complimentary.
If living life on the ocean wave is your scene, PSV offers sailing trips on Beauty or there are four yachts for hire. Guests can enjoy exploring the surrounding islands, stop for a picnic or barbecue or try their hand at deep sea fishing.

10. Watch the Sunset

Order a few drink and pull up a chair at Goatie’s bar cos the sunsets at Petit St. Vincent Private Island are worth leaving your cottage for!
