Life Lately: February is such a funny little month isn’t it? Always going by so ridiculously quickly!! It’s been a fun one though, lots of time spent with friends, trying lovely restaurants and eating lots of food!!
Restaurants: It was actually a month of favourites that included restaurants I’ve visited before as well as new places from beloved brands. A visit to Yauatcha City, saw a return to my favourite dim sum restaurant to check out the red menu for Chinese New Year. With red being a colour synonymous with luck and good fortune, the restaurant had ‘painted’ some of it’s top dishes this vibrant colour.
I also revisited Aqua Kyoto for their bottomless brunch and I would confidently proclaim this London’s best brunch in terms of value (£65 for bottomless Veuve Cliquot people!!!), excellent food and a fantastic location. Go now!! And use my discount code so that one person goes free when they bring three or more friends!!
A new addition for a fantastic restaurant group, I loved the Ivy Soho Brasserie when I visited for brunch and I can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu.
The new Nova Food complex is the most exciting thing to happen in my home neighbourhood, Victoria and Mr S and I decided to try new local, Hai Cenato for Valentine’s Day.
A pizza restaurant from one of my favourite chefs, Jason Atherton, you can’t really go wrong! I also reviewed Aster and I’m planning to systematically review all the other restaurants in the Nova building so watch this space for more!
I don’t go on so many girls nights any more but I headed out for Galentine’s Day with my bestie for the first time in ages!! Our restaurant of choice was a mutual favourite, Roka in Aldwych but I left the camera at home for that one!
Events: I actually attended two events in February for one of my favourite alcoholic beverages. I’ve mentioned Skinny Champagne and Skinny Prosecco, delicious waistline-friendly drinks with no added sugar, before and I continue to champion the brand. Launching in sexy Izakaya-style restaurant, Kurobuta, I not only got enjoy a few glasses of bubbly with the founders of the brand but I also met a chef hero of mine, Scott Hallsworth.
Later in the month I headed to the COMO Metropolitan hotel to celebrate the drink being listed there and to check out stylish sports wear brand, Monreal.
Travel: I don’t think you could fail to notice that I totally fell in love with Mexico after my stay in Mayakoba at Rosewood Mayakoba. I visited with a friend but I’m really keen to return with Mr S, I was even checking hotels as soon as I got home! On the blog was a review of the Rosewood Mayakoba, the Sense Spa and the food!
I also blogged about the resort as a whole with a post on the different dining destinations around the other hotels in Mayakoba, and about El Pueblito the village square.
Coming up! Tomorrow (eeek tomorrow) I’m off on a foodie road trip of Turin with Ford cars, we’ll be visiting vineyards, chomping of truffles and tasting chocolates with chauffeur driven cars taking us everywhere. I’ve also got a very special surprise weekend trip which I’ll be taking with Lauren so stay tuned to my Instagram stories to discover more!!
A few days later it’s the biggie and Mr S and I off to shopping, fine food, relaxation and sunshine in Dubai and the Maldives. You can read my itinerary here, and please do follow along on the usual channels, especially Instragram Stories which I’m really loving at the moment.
Blog Love: Jaime’s trip to Iceland, staying adjacent to the Blue Lagoon has me wanting to visit even more! I’ve also be loving Gary’s Dubai and Maldives posts, which have seriously been getting me in the mood for my own trip!
Our travel link up starts tomorrow and we want to know your hidden gems!
So what’s your news? How was February?
