The American erotic romantic drama “Fifty Shades of Grey” wowed audience with a fantasy-worthy plot of a college graduate’s sadomasochistic relationship with a young business magnate. Based on the 2011 novel of the same name by British author E. L. James, the movie stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. While the movie’s sizzle has settled now, the penthouse that inspired the home of character Christian Grey in the novel has sold for $8 million.
Listed for $8.8 million in August 13, the extravagant property is perched on the 31-story of Escala, one of Seattle’s most exclusive addresses. Located in Belltown neighborhood, the iconic tower is home to 269 grand condominium homes up to 5,200 square feet, with private or semi-private elevator vestibules exclusive to each home.
Luxurious amneties soar high in form of a private spa, a gym with yoga studio, private dining room, full catering kitchen and dining area with room for 140, theater room, a 24-hour concierge service, a lap pool and many more.
Though the movie was not filmed inside Escala and the penthouse also sold for $800,000 less than the asking price, it is still a record for Escala and the highest price paid for a downtown condo since 2009.
