When I think of Santorini two things come to mind; great food and beautiful views. But apparently the two don’t always go hand in hand. Well I wasn’t willing to compromise on either and I’ve got some great restaurant options for you if you’re visiting the Greek Island. All of the restaurants in this post were no more than a ten minute walk from our hotel Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa.
Apisithia
If you’re looking for a casual lunch with great food, Apisithia is perfect! Located on the cliff tops of Oia with a view of the Caldera and right next to some of the village’s best shopping – you can take a seat on the restaurant’s terrace and admire the white buildings and blue roof tops. I did lots of restaurant research for Santorini but we actually discovered Apisthia by accident but it fortunately it was a great discovery.
Food-wise I really think there’s little better than copious amounts of flat bread and really good dips…
I’m obsessed with aubergine and Mr S love taramasalata.
We started choosing some of the seafood options on the menu but the waiter suggested we ordered a platter which was super tasty and proved to be great value for money.
Ambrosia
Ambrosia was the restaurant that came up time and time again as one of the most romantic restaurants in Santorini with the best view. Located in the church square of Oia, you can take a table for two on the restaurant’s intimate terrace – booking is advisable in this bijou restaurant!
And have that magical Caldera view as the sun sets on this island of dreams! There’s no real super fine dining restaurants in Santorini but at Ambrosia you’ll find local dishes with a little more refinement than at the more rustic cafes and taverns.
We didn’t want rain ousting us from that gorgeous terrace but when it got too much, we headed into the equally intimate and romantic interior of the restaurant.
Unfortunately romantic candle light and small restaurant space doesn’t allow for the best photography but we loved the food at Ambrosia which was made with the freshest of produce. Starters were salmon tartare and prawn and avocado, both light and flavoursome. My squid main course was also delicious as were Mr S’s lamb chops – and of course we shared a Greek salad!
Petra
Finally my favourite restaurant with a view that we visited was Petra, the gourmet restaurant located at Canaves Oia Suites. The luxury hotel has been converted from 17th Century wineries, it’s right on the Caldera but far from the hustle and bustle.
On a gorgeous balcony right by the pool, you’ll find the hotel’s tiny terrace that allows for only a handful on holiday makers looking for romance. It’s quite simply perfect for a proposal, honeymoon or anniversary and ideal watch to the colour of the sky change.
Once again food is Greek / Mediterranean and we started with and artful looking tomato and pastry dish as well as a delicate plate of scallops.
Main courses were perch with lemon sauce and a delicious lobster with orzo pasta. Seriously the food totally lived up to the beauty of the view!
And do not miss these incredible profiteroles! Overall we found restaurants in Santorini to be really good value for money – Petra was on the pricier end of the scale but it was totally worth it for the location and the food.
Those are my recommendations for restaurants with a view in Santorini. Have you been to Santorini? Do you know a good restaurant with a spectacular view?

I travelled to Santorini as part of a collaboration with Classic Collection Holidays but I visited all the restaurants in this post independently.
