The W Dubai is quite possibly THE most instagrammable hotel in the Middle East. Newly opened this year on the covetable address of West Crescent The Palm, even its location is exclusive.
From the breathtaking light and sound vibration sculpture in the main atrium, which changes colour in time to the epic soundtrack pulsating throughout the hotel, (opening shot) to the artistically positioned sun-bed pods, winding beautifully around the wave shaped swimming pools, every view and inch of the hotel has been designed with aesthetics in mind.

Black-iridescent mosaic shimmers to greet you as you enter your bedroom. The curved lines of the walls lead the eye out onto the incredible views of the pool deck and the spectacular Dubai skyline beyond. Some rooms have jacuzzi and baths looking out onto the view too. (pictured above)
The rooms are open plan with every hi-tech amenity imaginable from oversized wide screen TVs, wet room rain showers, booming bluetooth speakers and a mini bar stocked up for a party!
The beds are also ginormous, this is Dubai after all, where everything has to be bigger and better. They’re also super comfortable with a great pillow menu.
A fresh linen/ laundry aroma is pumped through the hotel air con so it always smells clean and fresh, even in the bedrooms. I loved coming home to this smell, especially when it was 45 degrees centigrade outside!

W hotels are synonymous with hosting thought provoking and challenging events. Known as forerunners in the world of style and for their love of being avant guard, they hosted an evening at the new Palm hotel promoting women’s empowerment and the role of fashion in modern Dubai.
Ladies present at the event included some of the most influential women in the Middle East.
From the presenter and former editor of Harper’s Bazaar ME Louise Nichol, to the glittering list of panelist’s including three of Dubai’s most successful fashion designers Zayan Ghandour, Khulood Thani and Safiya Abdallah.
Beautiful ‘grey’ model Caroline Labouchere who has graced the pages of British Vogue 8 times in the past year, to the former manager of David and Victoria Beckham as well as former chief executive of the Dubai Design and Fashion Council Nez Gabreel.
Wow such an inspirational group of women all speaking out for one common ground, the empowerment of other women.
After the panel discussion and to add a little extra entertainment, there was a Zayan fashion show showcasing her new collection. I got my 15 mins of fame on the catwalk hehe!

Food and Drink
There are six excellent dining options at the hotel each beautifully designed in super fun, eclectic, individual styles. From the saccharin pink, 50’s vibes of Torno Subito, the Italian restaurant and gelateria, to the popping neon lights and Miami graffiti at the rooftop SoBe bar. (pictured above)
LIV the all day buffet restaurant is white with pops of colour and serves the most healthy and delicious buffet I’ve eaten in any luxury restaurant lately. Food here is very geared up to keeping the guest healthy and ingredients are fresh and delicious. They even serve porridge with options of 5 different kinds of milk, I love coconut milk!
My personal favourite though was famous Japanese restaurant Akira Back (pictured above and below) with its impeccable list of traditional-with-a-twist Asian delicacies. I’d go as far as to say it’s my new favourite Japanese restaurant, sorry Nobu :)
Akira Back interiors are modern minimal, with seductive dark lighting, high ceilings with sculptural light fittings and the main highlight is the breathtaking vistas out over the twinkling Dubai skyline. Oh and did I mention the neon vortex doorway that is insta heaven! (below)

I was lucky enough to be invited to the ultra modern, blue neon lights of the pampering Away Spa (pictured above). I had a signature massage which blew me away. After the long flight a massage, hot tub and steam room session at The Away Spa was the perfect way to relax into the trip.
It’s simply dreamy.

There are many things I love about traveling; beautiful destinations, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, unique hotels, innovative dining opportunities… but most importantly making memories. We kept our babymoon very chilled with little planned in the way of activities but one thing that I was very keen to do was a maternity photo shoot so that I’d have beautiful pictures of Mr S and I with bump at this beautiful location forever!
The concierge at Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo organised the shoot for us and our photographer arrived waiting for us at the hotel at about 4pm and we decided to take a few photos around the hotel and in the town of Taormina. As we’d decided to keep other activities to a minimum, we hadn’t planned any historical tours as we usually do, so the local knowledge of the photographer was a great way to see hidden spots around town.
The hotel’s pink walls and the beautiful flower gardens surrounding the grounds made the perfect backdrop to our first pictures! We were a little awkward at first but soon started to get the feel of it more!
Outside the front of the hotel is really beautiful too so we wanted to make sure that we got shots here. I was a little worried seeing so many shadows at the time but I actually love the shadow play in the finished photos.
As I mentioned the town of Taormina is just steps away from the hotel so we ventured out into town to capture some shots – known to be one of Sicily’s most beautiful areas.
Taormina is such a charming town, with gorgeous buildings along the main street, Corso Umberto I, crumbling brick, cobbled streets and tumbling vines add to that gorgeous picturesque feeling. The shops themselves are a good mix of high end designer and local artisans, you could easily spend a whole day here shopping and get lost down the cute side streets.
And it’s not hard to find a pretty side street to explore. Some like this are lined with paintings, other contain hidden gems of bar, restaurant or ceramic shops.
Piazza IX Aprile is the main square of the city and is fringed by bustling restaurants and street artists. 
On one side of the square is the Church of St Joseph, next to the clock tower. The facade is in a stunning baroque style with a double staircase and a balustrade made of Syracuse stone and dates back to 1600.
On the other side of the piazza is a magnificent panoramic view from which you can see Mount Etna, the Bay of Giardini Naxos and the ruins of Taormina’s ancient theatre
If you head through the arch you’ll reach Piazza Duomo, the location of the Duomo or Cathedral of Taormina also know as Duomo di San Nicola which dates back to the 13th century. Just outside the cathedral is a baroque fountain topped by a centaur.
One of my favourite shots of the day was taken standing on the fountain. The photographer suggested that we headed The Public Garden of Taormina which actually very close to our hotel so a good way to round off the shoot. Once belonging to the English noblewoman, Lady Florence Trevelyan, the gardens are a serene spot where lady Florence used to go and paint or entertain guests.

The garden also has the most gorgeous view!
These stairs were perfect for getting some shots with bump and these are some of my favourites!
Despite Mr S’s hesitance and our initial awkwardness, we were so glad that did we did the photoshoot and have these special memories to look back on. I’m also really excited to get some of these framed for the nursery!
