Sumosan Twiga – London’s Coolest Italian Sushi Restaurant & Nightclub

Sumosan Twiga - Where London's Chic Set Eat Sushi & Party Sumosan Twiga – London’s Coolest Italian Sushi Restaurant & Nightclub

Where? Sumosan Twiga, Knightsbridge, West London
When? March 2018
Why? I live in London, a city that I adore. And I’m very proud to say it’s one of the best cities in the world when it comes restaurants, bars and clubs. So the bar is set very high, excuse the pun :) I don’t often do restaurant reviews, but when a venue comes along that I genuinely love, I want to share the news.

Eating sushi and partying are two activities that I love, but I wouldn’t normally do together. Which is why one of my new favourite restaurants in town is Sumosan Twiga – London’s Coolest Italian Sushi Restaurant & Nightclub – where the chic set eat, drink and party. And it just so happens the guys at Sumosan Twiga invited Charlie and I for dinner in order to review the fantastic food and great atmosphere! How could I resist.

Location, Location, Location

Tucked away on a quiet passageway just off London’s luxurious Sloane Street, Sumosan Twiga invites diners to exceptional cocktails and a split menu of Japanese and Italian specialities, all set in an ultra chic environment with a chilled house music soundtrack.

The brain child of Flavio Briatore; of Formula One fame, who also owns a string of exclusive, international, hospitality offerings under the name Billionaires Club; and Janina Wolkow, one of London’s ‘young gun restaurateurs’ as named by the Evening Standard, when she pioneered the luxury Sumosan brand. After the success of Wolkow’s Sumosan pop up at Briatore’s Monte Carlo Restaurant Twiga, they decided to join forces and create Sumosan Twiga in London’s exclusive Knightsbridge area.

Combining the Italian spirit and traditional culinary flavours of Monaco’s famed Twiga restaurant with the reputation of Mayfair’s legendary Japanese favourite ‘Sumosan’, Sumosan Twiga offers an elegant three floor gastronomic residence with the energy of a private club.

Two menus pack a sophisticated punch, where Venetian-inspired Italian classics sit along side an innovative Japanese menu. The glamourous clientele can enjoy the very best dishes from east to west.SUMOSANTWIGA_hip restaurants ITALIAN_16

The Decor
Super sleek, seductive interiors are designed by Italian architect Michele Bonan, renowned for his work with the Ferragamo fashion family.

The first-floor dining room is a light open space, predominantly monochrome with traditional, elegant touches. Chic black-wood floors are accented by classic European stucco details, Japanese hand painted screens are juxtaposed with beautifully crafted Italian furnishings in cool greys mixed with pops of bronze. Guests dine amongst oriental orchids and a beautifully curated art collection including African photography pieces by Blu Bonan.

After Dark
Taking the Sumosan Twiga experience in to the night, the restaurant’s underground lounge is inspired by the Twiga Late Night Lounge born in Monaco by Briatore’s ‘Billionaire Life’ hospitality brand. The London lounge, an intimate space designed with references to Briatore’s love affair with Africa, regularly hosts bespoke events as part of its private events’ schedule and post dinner party revelry too.

Top Strategies For Saving Money On Your RV Trip

Even if traveling makes your life more rich, just the opposite can be said for your bank account. While RV trips are certainly cheaper in comparison to flying to exotic locations and staying in hotels, they are still rather costly. The good news, however, is that there are a variety of ways you can save money while traveling in an RV. Once you’ve found an RV to rent through a resource like Outdoorsy.com, you’ll be ready to put these money saving tips into action.

Here are the top strategies for saving money on your RV trip:

Travel During Shoulder Season

The first money saving tip is to travel during what is called ‘shoulder season.’ Shoulder season is simply the time of year where there are the fewest number of travelers or tourists but when the weather is still suitable for traveling. This means that prices are lower for just about everything. Plus, you’ll have less of a crowd when you arrive at your destination. So in that regard, it’s a win-win.

There are specifically two shoulder seasons in the year: April through early June and then September through October. Off season is during the winter, and peak season is during the summer. While you may experience a little rain during shoulder season, you shouldn’t have to deal with snow or incredibly cold weather or anything like that. Even if it’s not in the middle of summer, the lower cost of travel and fewer travelers definitely makes it worth it.

Take Your Time Shopping For Fuel

If there’s one expense that all RV owners and renters dread, it’s the cost of fuel, which can reach into the hundreds or even thousands of dollars in a single road trip. And even the smaller sized motorhomes are still hardly fuel efficient. This is why you should definitely take your time to shop for fuel on your motorhome trip versus stopping into the first gas station that you visit. Considering that some RVs can hold over a hundred and fifty gallons of fuel, a station that offers only one to two cents less a gallon for fuel will still save you a lot of money.

The most efficient way to shop for fuel will be with an app such as GasBuddy that will show you all the stations and their fuel prices in the surrounding area.

Join An RV Club

There are a large number of RV discount memberships and clubs that you can join, and joining these clubs will be well worth it to safe on money. Certain clubs or memberships will either grant you access or discounts to several RV parks across the country, RV insurance, emergency towing services, the ability to park at certain golf courses and resorts for free, or a combination of those things. Most of the clubs are also inexpensive and cost less than fifty dollars a year to join.

Who Says You Have To Stay At An RV Park?

Last but not least, who exactly says you must spend overnight at an RV park? RV parks can cost anywhere from $15 to $50 or so a night, with the more expensive parks usually having better space and superior amenities. That being said, staying at a park is most certainly not required for traveling in an RV. Instead, you can park at a private camping area, at the parking lot to a grocery store such as Wal-Mart, off the side of a road (where legal), and so on.

RV travelers call this ‘boondocking,’ and it’s certainly a more inexpensive way to travel. There are also certain RV camps as well that will allow you to park and stay for a period of time either for free or for a very cheap fee, so those options would certainly be worth exploring too. The one negative aspect of boondocking is you won’t have access to utilities and water, so be careful that you conserve what you have.

Saving Money On Your RV Trip

While an RV road trip is going to be costly no matter how you slice it, the tips you have learned in this article can still help you to save a significant amount of money. In the end, saving money on RV trips really comes down to the simple concept of being responsible for your finances and not spending money you don’t have.

A Dozen Easter Table Inspirations

If like me, you’re scrambling to get your Easter festivities together (no egg pun intended!), then I thought you might appreciate the Easter table inspiration I’ve been frantically amassing. There a variety of directions in which you could go, but I’ve narrowed my options down to four key styles. I’m having a hard time picking a favorite. I’m curious to hear which look you like the best.

easter table inspiration on apartment 34 easter table inspiration on apartment 34 easter table inspiration on apartment 34

Sweet pastel hues are kind of a no-brainer at Easter. Light pinks, dusty blues, pale greens, and touches of mauve or lilac offer a pretty, soft palette.

easter table inspiration on apartment 34easter table inspiration on apartment 34

Another fail-safe Easter route is pink. Whether you go with a pink linen tablecloth, some pink plates or the combination of both, you’ll definitely set a light, airy spring mood.

easter table inspiration on apartment 34easter table inspiration on apartment 34easter table inspiration on apartment 34

In true Apt34 fashion, I’m always drawn to a neutral look. Going really simple, understated and color-free might feel a bit unexpected this time of year, but by keeping your tablescape calm, you’ll let all your yummy Easter recipes take center stage.

easter table inspiration on apartment 34 easter table inspiration on apartment 34 pink and gray table

If you’re feeling more adventurous, why not go for big, bold color! Vibrant greens, saturated navy blue, bold oranges, yellows, and magenta all mix together in a bright beautiful way. You’ll definitely set a table to remember.

What kind of style do you prefer for your spring celebrations? I’d love to know!
