How To Plan An Unforgettable Luxury Event For Your Business

Whether you’re planning a luxury event to get your business off to a successful start, to reward customer loyalty, or to introduce a new product/service to market, there’s no denying that event planning can be stressful.

After all, while a well-organised event can work wonders for your brand and business, a poorly-organized one can damage your reputation quite considerably. This could turn customers away from your brand, sending them directly toward your competitors instead.

With that in mind, here are some top tips that you can use to plan an unforgettable luxury event for your business.

Set your Budget

Running a business event can quickly get expensive, as there is simply a lot to pay for throughout the process. This includes:

  • Venue hire
  • Entertainment costs
  • Catering Marketing/Invitations
  • Insurance

As such, it’s crucial that you determine how much money you can allocate to this task ahead of time. Of course, you can be a little more frivolous with your spending if you host a ticketed event, where guests pay a small fee to attend. However, it’s important to note that events of any kind can improve customer loyalty, which means that they are well worth the investment as you will likely see an increase in sales after the fact.

Find the perfect venue

The first step toward planning a successful business event is finding a suitable venue. There are various different factors you must consider here, such as your budget and the amount of space you actually need. If you are planning to give a speech or invite keynote speakers, you must ensure the venue is equipped with the right tools and tech for this.

Furthermore, if you are running a luxury brand, you must also choose a luxury venue. However, it’s important to note that you can make an ordinary space seem much more luxurious than it actually is through high-class decor.

Purchase event insurance

Many event planners forget to purchase insurance, despite the fact that it provides you with a lot of additional protection and peace of mind. After all, while your guests may intend to be on their best behaviour, you are not in control of their actions. If an accident happens, and property is damaged, or somebody gets injured, you may be liable and face a series of costs that your business is simply not prepared to handle. Conversely, by investing in insurance, you are better protected from such incidents.
As such, it is well worth the investment to purchase event insurance, especially as one day event insurance will cost you $76.5 a day on average. A small price to pay for the benefits this brings.

Think about catering

It’s also crucial that you get the catering right when planning an event, as it’s often one of the main topics of conversation. To begin with, you should inquire as to whether or not guests have any dietary requirements or restrictions so that everyone’s needs are met.

You should also reach out to local vendors and catering companies, as this is a great way to forge meaningful business connections that may come in handy further down the line, alongside supporting other, smaller businesses.

You should also ensure that the choice of food and drink serves matches the theme of the event and your brand. This will make the entire event seem more cohesive and well-organised. For example, you could rename popular cocktails so that they match your brand or products. This gives the event a much more personal touch.

Send out invites early

Sending out invitations early is another great way to ensure that your event is a success, as it tends to improve the overall turnout. Fortunately, there are many different ways in which you can send out invites to loyal and potential customers.

For example, you should start by inviting those that are subscribed to your business’ mailing list, as this is “the easiest way to generate ticket sales because the people you’re contacting already know about your brand. If you’re emailing contacts on your marketing list, you know they’ve already expressed interest in what you have to offer them.”

However, you can also drum up excitement on social media ahead of time, by advertising the event before tickets go on sale. For example, you could share information about speakers who will be present, or photographs of the venue to generate a sense of excitement and interest.

Put together an event timetable

Another way in which you can ensure the event runs as smoothly as possible is by putting together a timetable for the day/evening. For example, you may want to begin with welcome drinks, before moving on to talks, product demonstrations and finally the meal. Either way, you should ensure that all guests are aware of this schedule as it will help things run smoothly. Of course, you should also be prepared for things running behind, so that you’re able to adapt when necessary.

You can share the event timetable with guests upon arrival, or ahead of time on social media, or in a final email or letter before the event itself.

Don’t forget the music

While you may not be hosting the kind of event where you’d expect people to dance the night away, there’s no denying that music is important at business events. This is because it provides a backdrop to any conversation, and can help you create the perfect atmosphere.

As such, you should think carefully about the music you play during your event. For example, instrumental music can create a sense of calm and peace, which puts your guest in a good mood while also encouraging people to chat with each other. If you play songs your guests like, they’re more likely to associate this feeling of positivity with your brand.

Furthermore, the music playing can help your event run smoothly by giving people a sense of direction. For example, closing the night with a slower-tempo song shows that the event is winding down as people take action cues based on the music they hear.

A Historic UK Manor That Played M’s Office in James Bond on Sale for £75M

Located just 30 minutes from central London in Buckinghamshire is Denham Place, a stately manor that boasts a laundry list of prominent names who have either made the residence their home or paid a visit. The list of owners includes Sir Roger Hill, High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte’s family, the banker JP Morgan and movie producer Harry Saltzman.

With such a prestigious lineage, Denham Place is listed as a Grade I property, the highest and rarest accolade given only to buildings of exceptional interest. The over 28,000 square-foot manor is on the market for £75 million, according to a listing put up by Knight Frank, Savills and Beauchamp Estates. The huge manor sits on 43-acre of land and its surrounding compound including the coach house has also been given a Grade-II listing.

According to Gary Hersham, the founder of Beauchamp Estates, Denham Place is a highly valuable asset with an impressive history that involves royalty, a prominent banker, and well-known film producers. In a press release, he also mentioned that there has been a noticeable increase in ultra-high net worth families looking for spacious country estates in close proximity to central London, which would give them complete control over their living environment.

The library

For fans of James Bond, they would be delighted to know that during Saltzman’s tenure at Denham Place, the space was turned into a film set. Keen eyes would spot that the library was used as M’s office for scenes in two James Bond films “Live and Let Die” and “The Man with the Golden Gun”.

The seller of Denham Place is Mike Jatania, business tycoon with a diverse portfolio from real estate to cosmetics. He hoped that the fall in value of the pound would attract offers from the US and Middle East. Jatania, who now lives in Monaco, has stated that American hedge fund managers like Ken Griffin have already invested in properties in central London, and therefore, it is highly likely that other American investors will also show interest. Furthermore, there has been a significant increase in wealth in the Middle East, and it is a well-known tradition for families in that region to own properties in London.

Denham Place has undergone an extensive restoration period in collaboration with English Heritage and The Georgian Group. The project was led by award-winning interior designer Alexander Kravetz. The result is a modern manor that still retains the grandiosity of past eras. Think full-length windows, gold trimmings, hand-painted fresco, crystal chandeliers, ornate furniture and many more. In total, there are 12 reception rooms, 12 bedroom suites and 14 bathrooms, a private chapel, two staircases and an elevator

James Crawford, of Knight Frank, commented: “Since Anglo-Saxon times, up to the current vendors, there have only been seven owners of Denham Place; with each family undertaking improvements and bestowing an enhanced legacy for the new owners. Alongside offering private, tranquil parkland, it is excellently connected just thirty minutes from Central London and Mayfair, whilst being just six miles from airport base RAF Northolt for using private jets. Short of acquiring one of the Crown Estate Royal Palaces there is nothing of this grandeur or provenance so close to Central London.”

Grand Seiko SLGA021: Blue Serenity

Grand Seiko SLGA021

Although the Grand Seiko line was introduced in 1960, it was Seiko’s release of the 44GS watch in 1967 that definitively established the collection. This is because the 44GS’s design language would go on to define the aesthetics of all subsequent Grand Seiko timepieces, even today, with Grand Seiko now operating as a separate entity from Seiko itself.

In 2020, Grand Seiko updated the aesthetic code set down by the 44GS. The reworked design language, Evolution 9, was conceived to represent the most contemporary form of watchmaking at Grand Seiko. More than this, however, Evolution 9 is now also a standalone collection within the brand’s line-up, with offerings ranging from sporty chronographs to dressier time-and-date watches. The latest addition to this line is the SLGA021, which bears a textured dial inspired by the view of Lake Suwa before dawn.

Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive-equipped watches are produced at the brand’s Shinshu Watch Studio in the town of Shiojiri, some three hours’ drive from Tokyo. To the manufacture’s southeast sits Lake Suwa, a prominent landmark that has long inspired its watches’ designs. The focus this time is on a familiar pre-dawn scenery, when Lake Suwa is still clothed in tranquil darkness. During this period, the gentlest breeze stirs up rippling waves that create an undulating surface bearing various shades of blue, each blending into each other while also playing with the ambient light differently.

It is this picturesque view that the new SLGA021 alludes to, with its dial bearing a textured pattern reminiscent of the lake’s surface. The vignette is made complete by the dial’s midnight blue tone, which captures exactly how the lake looks just before the first rays of sunlight emerge over the horizon.

As part of the Evolution 9 collection, the SLGA021 bears the nine design elements that collectively define the updated 44GS aesthetic. Faceted hands and indices with carefully balanced proportions for improved legibility, a thin case with a lower centre of gravity that sits closer to the wrist, and more widely spaced lugs which better distribute the watch’s weight are just some salient features here. What these elements represent is equally important: an evolution of a legacy that has been similarly codified to reflect Grand Seiko’s watchmaking philosophy.

The 9RA2 calibre that powers the watch parallels this. Its Spring Drive technology is proprietary to Grand Seiko, and gives the SLGA021 an astonishing accuracy of ±10 seconds per month. Visually, the movement also sets itself apart with its perfectly smooth second hand — a result of the hybrid Tri-synchro Regulator that melds the best qualities of both quartz and mechanical movements.

The SLGA021 is cased in steel and sized for the contemporary wearer with its 40mm diameter. Unlike an earlier iteration, the SLGA007, which was limited to 2,021 pieces worldwide, this watch will be part of the regular collection.

Movement: Spring Drive 9RA2; 120-hour power reserve
Case: 40mm in steel; water-resistant to 100m
Strap: Steel bracelet
Price: US$9,100

Top 10 Wealthiest Cities in the World 2023

In the fresh round of which city boasts the highest number of millionaires, New York City claims the top spot with 340,000 millionaires and 724 centi-millionaires calling The Big Apple home. The city is not only the home ground for two of the world’s largest stock exchanges, NYSE and Nasdaq, but is also one of the world’s most important financial capitals. Between the period of 2012 to 2022, New York City saw a 40 per cent increase in the number of high-net-worth individuals moving to the city.

The top 10 wealthiest cities are as follows:

  • New York City
  • Tokyo
  • The Bay Area (San Francisco and Silicon Valley)
  • London
  • Singapore
  • Los Angeles
  • Hong Kong
  • Beijing
  • Shanghai
  • Sydney

The list, published by investment migration company Henley & Partners and global wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth, tracks cities with residents that have an investable wealth of at least US$1 million. This year’s results saw the US dominate 10 places in the top 50 while China followed behind with five and Australia had four. Looking at the numbers more closely, California’s Bay Area has the highest concentration of billionaires at 63 individuals then trailing behind are New York, Beijing and Los Angeles.

In Asia, Tokyo ranks number one with about 290K millionaires but this number was a slight dip of 5 per cent between 2012 and 2022. Another interesting point is the relatively low number of billionaires in the Japan’s capital. At only 14 individuals, it is telling of the wealth distribution in the city where it is evenly spread with the middle classes and lower-tier millionaires. On the other hand, Singapore saw a 40 per cent influx of HNWI thanks to its business-friendly landscape and stable political climate. The city-state is the top choice for family offices and the government estimates that around 700 of these private organisations have set up offices in Singapore. In contrast, Hong Kong, a city that has been compared to Singapore, has the third largest number of wealthy people in Asia.

According to the CEO of Henley & Partners, Juerg Steffen, the majority of the cities that ranked highest on the list have programmes designed to facilitate the transfer of funds and promote foreign investment, in return for residency or citizenship rights. Steffen emphasised that the ability to move oneself, one’s family, or one’s business to a more advantageous location, or to have the choice of multiple residences worldwide, is becoming a crucial factor in private clients’ international wealth and legacy planning.

Maserati’s Grecale is Built for “The Everyday Exceptional” Experience

Maserati Grecale
Image: Maserati

Italian carmaker Maserati, known to manufacture some of the world’s fastest and most luxurious sports and passenger cars, has launched a new SUV class to complement its range of automobiles. The brand calls it “Grecale”, which in Italian means a north-easterly Mediterranean wind. Like other models, Maserati named it after the world’s most famous winds to reflect its speedy nature.

Its base model, the Grecale GT can hit 60mph in fewer than 5.6 seconds and 124 mph in 23.7 seconds. This performance has already surpassed its fellow German competitor. In today’s fast-paced world, having an SUV like the Grecale makes commuting between places an easy feat. Its five-seater arrangement is just about right for a young family looking for a car, and each model has three basic drive modes (Comfort, GT and Sport) that the driver can toggle depending on the need.

Maserati Grecale
Image: Maserati

For daily commutes in a city like Singapore, the ideal driving mode is Comfort, which guarantees maximum usability and comfort while ensuring peak efficiency. For those living in a country with long roads, the Sport mode will come in handy. Pedal sensitivity and gear change are set to peak performance and the driving position is lowered by 15mm — the spotlight is now on you and any preconceived notions of what an SUV can deliver will be rewritten.

The Grecale features a wide selection of powertrains, from conventional internal combustion engines to hybrid and a fully electric variation next year. As more countries move toward a greener future, the electric model, the Folgore, will most likely be a top pick for many across the world. Furthermore, it will be Maserati’s first fully electric SUV in its brand history and sets the standard for other upcoming electric vehicles the Trident brand has in its blueprint.

“The Everyday Exceptional” is the tagline for the Grecale, and it is an amalgamation of passion, innovation, versatility and style. These qualities are exemplified throughout the SUV starting from the exterior, which is the second series to adopt Maserati’s new styling direction after the marque’s flagship MC20. The car’s face features a distinctive Maserati grille but the rest of its bulbous body is emblematic of a typical SUV like its fellow competitors from Alfa Romeo, Porsche and BMW.

Moving into the cabin, you will be greeted by the modern touches available such as the 12.3-inch dashboard containing a digital gauge cluster and a pair of touchscreens on the centre stack. A first for Maserati is the fitting of a digital clock, which not only tells time but also emits a signal response when a voice command is issued. Furthermore, the clock face can become a compass, an essential tool when embarking on an off-road journey.

When choosing an Italian brand like Maserati, you would be sure to know that you will be living each day without any compromise. Be it with your family in the city or road-tripping with your friends, the Triden brand’s Grecale model is there to confer you luxurious comfort paired with supreme performance that the marque is well-known for in the automobile world.

Opinion: Europe, A Sleeping Beauty

There is much to be shocked by the near economic disappearance of Europe. The “acceleration of the European economy” mentioned by Emmanuel Macron in China this April is a tale that no longer comforts or deceives anyone. Readers, our first electric car will most likely be Chinese, as China has now surpassed Germany as the world’s second-largest exporter of vehicles. This continent, which invented the car, is reduced to importing its electric vehicles. It has become a major consumer. What a sudden decline for Europe, which during its heydays exported many cars to China and outperformed others in terms of equipment industries — however, it did not see the end of the combustion engine coming.

Europe will soon be downgraded even in a field where they were champions, namely that of heavy transport. The French President has accepted, as part of his trip to China, to double the local production of Airbus, thus offering the Chines ample opportunities to appropriate the technology that will be used to outperform the Europeans. Case in point: Siemens made available to the Chinese uts high-speed train technology. Similarly, Kuka Robotics, the world-renowned German industrial robotics flagship, was slowly being eaten away by Chinese shareholders who started at 5.4 per cent in 2016 and are now at 95 per cent.

It would be foolish to think that the Chinese will refrain from advancing their technological capabilities when the Europeans are profit driven. This is of course to the detriment of the latter’s technological sustainability in the long term. For those who have kept themselves abreast of this change would have predicted such moves by the Chinese. The objectives were clearly defined as early as 2018 in the roadmap entitled “Made in China 2025”, which is “an initiative aimed at securing China’s position as a global power in high-tech industries. The goal is to reduce China’s dependence on imported foreign technology and to invest massively in its own innovations in order to create Chinese companies capable of competing both in the national and global markets”.

This is why German’s industrial engine is now doubled by China, and this occurs while its neighbours are pitifully closing all of its nuclear power plants in the midst of a global energy crisis. Another point to note is Germany’s trade deficit with China in 2022, at €85 billion, was the highest ever recorded. Furthermore, after the country’s sanctions against Russia, it was the first European economy to be paralyzed. Thus, it is increasingly dependent on the Chinese market for survival.

Europe, whose GDP was roughly equivalent to that of the United States in the early 1980s, has since fallen far behind. It was also overtaken by China in 2020. It is as if the continent has unilaterally chosen to abandon developing its technologies when it could have become equals with the Americans — it does not lack the brains. From the outset, Europe saw the rapid advances as threats that had to be regulated rather than economic opportunities. The vision Europe has of progress is primarily problematic: It legislates, it issues directives and regulations, while others invent and produce.

Following this train of thought, it is unsurprising to note Europe’s near invisibility in the field of Artificial Intelligence. It is neither anecdotal nor revealing that Italy and soon France are banning ChatGPT. How is Europe going to be moving forward, how can the continent continue to be competitive on a universal scale when it considers these areas to be threats? Europe needs to understand that it is useless to regulate — or continue to be a champion of morality — without mastering its own economic power. This continent, which is lagging behind in almost every industry and technological sector, is not actually seeking to become a superpower. Its ambition lies in maintaining high quality of life and not to meddle in crises that are not its own.

4 Ways to Make Your Business More Efficient

Every business strives to be efficient, as it directly impacts productivity, profitability, and success. In today’s fast-paced and competitive market, optimizing operations is crucial to stay ahead of the competition. The question is, how is your business doing on this front?

4 Ways to Improve Your Company’s Efficiency

In today’s fast-paced business environment, efficiency is key to success. Companies that operate efficiently are more productive, profitable, and better able to compete in the marketplace.

However, achieving efficiency requires more than just hard work and dedication. It requires a strategic approach that involves streamlining workflows, leveraging software, using automation and AI, hiring the right type of employees, and more.

Streamline Workflows

One of the most effective ways to improve business efficiency is to streamline workflows. This means identifying and eliminating unnecessary steps in your business processes. The goal is to reduce the time it takes to complete tasks, increase productivity, and minimize the risk of errors.

To streamline workflows, you must first identify the tasks that are taking too much time. This can be achieved by analyzing the business processes and identifying areas where there is redundancy or duplication of effort.

Once you have identified these areas, you can look for ways to simplify the process, automate tasks, or eliminate unnecessary steps.

Leverage Software

Another way to make your business more efficient is to leverage software. There are a wide range of software applications available that can help automate tasks, streamline workflows, and improve productivity.

For example, customer relationship management (CRM) software can help you manage customer data, track sales activities, and streamline the sales process. Similarly, project management software can help you manage projects, allocate resources, and track progress.

You should also look for industry-specific software. If you’re managing a fleet, for example, fleet maintenance software can help you stay ahead of maintenance issues and keep your fleet operational and efficient. Being aware of the software offerings in your industry goes a long way toward helping you grow.

Use automation and AI

Automation and AI can also help you make your business more efficient. Automation involves using technology to automate repetitive tasks and processes. This can include anything from automating data entry to automating customer service interactions.

By automating these tasks, you can free up your employees to focus on more important tasks that require their skills and expertise.

AI, on the other hand, involves using algorithms and machine learning to automate decision-making processes. For example, AI can be used to analyze customer data and predict which products or services they are most likely to purchase.

This can help you target your marketing efforts more effectively and improve your conversion rates.

Hire the right type of employees

Another key to improving business efficiency is to hire the right type of employees. This means looking for employees who have the skills and experience needed to perform the tasks required of them. Here are a few tips for hiring employees who are likely to be highly productive:

  • Define the role and responsibilities clearly: Before you start the hiring process, make sure you have a clear understanding of the role and responsibilities of the position you’re trying to fill. A well-defined job description will help you attract candidates who have the skills and experience needed to be productive in the role.
  • Look for candidates with relevant experience: When reviewing resumes and conducting interviews, look for candidates who have experience that is relevant to the position. Candidates with experience in similar roles or industries are more likely to be productive quickly.
  • Assess their work ethic: Look for candidates who have a strong work ethic and a proven track record of being productive in their past roles. This can be assessed through references or by asking specific questions about how they approach their work.
  • Test their problem-solving skills: Productive employees are often good problem-solvers. During the hiring process, ask candidates to walk you through how they would approach a problem or challenge related to the role.
  • Evaluate their communication skills: Good communication skills are essential for productivity. Look for candidates who can clearly articulate their ideas and listen actively during the interview process.
  • Assess their ability to work independently: Independent workers can be very productive, so look for candidates who have experience working independently or who have demonstrated a strong ability to manage their time and workload.
  • Use pre-employment assessments: There are a variety of pre-employment assessments available that can help you evaluate a candidate’s productivity potential. These assessments can measure things like attention to detail, time management, and work style preferences.

Remember that while these tips can help you identify productive employees, there is no surefire way to guarantee productivity in a new hire. It’s important to create a supportive work environment that encourages productivity and provides employees with the resources they need to succeed.

Set Your Business Up for Success

Stylish Travel Luggage for Your Next Adventure

Louis Vuitton Horizon Luggage

First launched in 2016 by Marc Newson, one of today’s most influential industrial designers, the  Horizon collection represents a turning point for the storied maison thanks to its innovative design, robust construction, and exceptional usefulness. The ultra-lightweight luggage in moulded mesh composite is decorated in either the House’s Monogram or Damier design and trimmed with natural cowhide. As a trunk maker with years of experience, Louis Vuitton’s savoir faire comes through in the details of the iconic trunks. This is spotlighted on the trolley system — silent, miniature wheels with 360 degrees of directionality. The luggage interior is also carefully thought out, where its flat-bottomed space optimises packing space.

In a new travel campaign called “Horizons Never End”, football world champion Lionel Messi only has his Horizon suitcase with him. Messi may be seen sitting in an airport terminal with his legs spread out on his Horizon rolling cabin luggage in a sequence of still photos taken by fashion photographer and videographer Glen Luchford. In another image, the football icon is seated on a famous Louis Vuitton trunk that is positioned among the airplanes on the tarmac, all set to embark on exotic journeys with his Horizon luggage.

Rimowa Essential Collection

To celebrate Spring’s arrival, Rimowa has expanded its Essential collection with two new seasonal shades: Petal and Cedar. These two colours showcase the captivating beauty of contrast originating in parallel worlds and the pursuit for harmony and balance in this seemingly uncertain world.

The subtle blush of pastel pink mirrors the radiant splendour of cherry blossoms, signalling the arrival of spring, while the refined brown tone of Cedar symbolises strength. When combined, these contrasting hues encapsulate the fleeting yet harmonious beauty of cherry blossom trees. Rounding up the new collection, several of Rimowa’s key pieces and accessories are also spotted in Petal such as the Personal Polycarbonate Cross-body Bag, Never Still Flap Backpack Small, Never Still Vertical Tote, Packing Cubes and iPhone 14 and 14 Pro cases.

Tumi | McLaren 60th Anniversary Collection

As part of Tumi’s Spring 2023 collection, the latest campaign features Tumi crew member and McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris. The collection offers a variety of limited-edition styles in McLaren’s signature papaya colourway, including the Torque Sling, Velocity Backpack, and Aero International Expandable 4-Wheeled Carry-On. Made to meet the needs of pioneers, travellers, and adventurers on the go, the 60th Anniversary collection offers a wider range of carrying options with the addition of packing cases and portfolios.

New Balance | Samsonite Collection

When two highly innovative brands come together, expectations are high on what this partnership will entail. For the collaboration between Samsonite and New Balance, a collection comprising of crossbody bag, shoebox crossbody bag and hard-side luggage products are available for purchase in Singapore. Celebrating individual expression and versatility, the new launch “seeks to foster the love of exploration with a stylish, versatile collection that meets the lifestyle needs of every type of explorer – fuelling their drive to pursue their dreams fearlessly” as shared by the brand and this essence is encapsulated under the campaign’s theme of “Live Undefined”.

Embodying both aesthetics and functionality, each piece is designed with a semi-transparent hard shell that is juxtaposed with coloured reversible pouches. While the smaller offerings are made for everyday travel, special mention goes to the Rolling Tote and Spinner 61. The former is an 18-inch hard-side luggage with a large expandable pouch, while the Spinner 61 is a 22-inch hard-side luggage that comes with a large expandable pouch and two additional medium-sized pouches. Both are great travel companion for quick getaways.
