I absolutely love everything about this time of year (except perhaps the dark evenings!), that time when all your favourite places dress up with lights, baubles, trees and snow. Just perfect to get you in the spirit of Christmas. 
A visit to the Dalloway Terrace is always guaranteed to put a smile on my face and especially now there’s a gorgeous pop up from Orchidya, a luxurious floral boutique. 
Warm and welcoming hospitality is always in fashion at the Dalloway Terrace, located at The Bloomsbury Hotel, and a warm glass of mulled wine was pressed into my cold hands as I explored the pop up. It was my first glass of the festive season and I’m looking forward to many more to come!
Orchidya have built a strong reputation after gaining recognition from the Chelsea Flower show and were able to open a boutique in Bloomsbury in 2012 to offer full floral services. 
As the name suggests, they specialise in orchids but there are plenty of other hand-tied bouquets, floral gifts and plants. I have a soft spot in my heart for orchids as we had beautiful white ones adorning the chuppah at our wedding.
The flowers in the pop up were gorgeous and the mini Christmas tree were super cute! From there I headed over to the beautiful indoor / outdoor space that makes up the Dalloway Terrace.
Regular readers will know that I love this literary inspired space, having visited for afternoon tea and brunch before. With it’s retractable roof, the terrace is glorious in summer but it’s alway just perfect for the colder months. Fully heated, with cosy blankets on every chair and a delicious all day menu, it really is ideal. 
And with Christmas coming up it’s well and truly decked with frosty branches, snow covered pine cones and a huge Christmas tree. 
As part of the Orchidya pop-up, the Dalloway Terrace are offering Christmas wreath-making and I was excited to have the opportunity to try the workshop with some other bloggers and journalists.
Finding my spot and with a glass of Perrier-Jouet champagne poured, the demonstration began. Now funnily enough I had never made a Christmas wreath until the night before at the Duke of York Square event…so I went from having never done it before to twice in one week! 
The representative from Orchidya went about showing us how to affix all the elements to our wreath using metal wires. At Orchidya, they only use natural and organic embellishments so that the wreaths look subtle and elegant for your home. 
Fuelled by a spectacular afternoon tea selection I started working on building up the layers of my wreath…
Cocoa Chanel said ‘it’s always better to be slightly underdressed’ and ‘before leaving the house, a lady should look in the mirror and remove one accessory.’ Based on the wisdom of the fashion queen, I chose not to over accessorise my wreath and kept it simple and subtle with some frosted pine cones, dried oranges, lavender and cinnamon sticks. And after two attempts I’m quite the expert at wreath-making now
