Menorca is a little piece of paradise in the Mediterranean. I’ve wanted to visit this Spanish island for years, and now that I’ve been invited to speak at an influencer conference called MustSeeMenorca, I’ve finally gotten my chance. I have 5 days in Menorca to take in the highlights, and each day I find something new to love.
5 Days in Menorca
Menorca has so much to do and see it’s hard to narrow down my list to just one thing a day. The tourism board has put together a sightseeing itinerary for the conference attendees that covers every aspect of the island, and each 24-hour period is packed with activities.
From secluded coves with crystal water to hilltop fortresses from centuries past, the island has a wealth of natural treasures and man-made gems. But there are a number of things that stand out, and for good reason.
1. Cala Galdana
If I have to choose a favorite moment of the trip, it’s a boat ride from Cala Galdana to some of the nearby beaches.
Most can only be reached on foot or by water, and they’re spectacular to see.
The white sand and turquoise sea are stunning, and motoring through rock arches to reach them is magical.
2. Ciutadella
In the former capital of Menorca, Ciutadella’s historic center is another of my favorite places on the island.
I particularly enjoy walking through the main square and along the narrow streets to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the views of the marina.
Secret gardens and hidden courtyards complete the picture, and by the end of the day I’m smitten.
3. Cova d’en Xoroi
Menorca has spectacular sunsets, and one evening I get a chance to watch the sun go down from a bar in a series of caves on the side of a cliff.
Cova d’en Xoroi is the most unique vantage point I’ve ever viewed a sunset from, and I can’t believe how beautiful it is.
4. Favaritx Lighthouse
Menorca has no shortage of lighthouses, and the most picturesque is the Favaritx Lighthouse in the S’Albufera d’es Grau natural park. If one lighthouse wins me over during my 5 days in Menorca, this is it.
Set on a rocky promontory, its black-and-white striped tower stands out as it climbs into the sky.
5. Mahon
The capital of Menorca, Mahon is home to everything from a gin distillery to a fish market and one of the largest natural harbors in the world.
After a walk through the city, I board a boat to see Mahon from the water. The colorful houses look bright from the Mediterranean, and the cloud formations seem to dance in the sky as the boat goes by.
There’s a lot more to Menorca than I’ve seen, but these experiences will stay with me long after I’ve left the Balearic Islands. I hope that if I get to travel back again I’ll find more to love each day. I don’t think it will be difficult.
