The Winter Antiques Show opened in New York last week and I took a tour on Thursday. I fell in love with many paintings and objects and it’s been fun to see what everyone else has been posting on Instagram. As I’ve mentioned over the years, the Winter Antiques Show is a great place to learn more about art and antiques and train your eye. The dealers are happy to talk about their pieces and give you more information. The Winter Antiques Show runs through January 28, 2018 and benefits the East Side Settlement House. Definitely stop by before it closes.

My favorite artwork at The Winter Antiques Show is this View of Flushing New York from about 1850-60 from Hirschl & Adler Galleries.

A detail from the painting above.

The front and center booth is a loan exhibition from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Collecting for the Commonwealth/Preserving for the Nation:Celebrating a Century of Art Patronage 1919-2018 which included the painting Daisies, Arles, 1888 by Vincent Van Gogh from the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mellon.

Also from the loan exhibition is this Jasmine Necklace (Breath of Spring Necklace) from 1966 by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. from the Collection of Mrs. Paul Mellon, aka Bunny Mellon.
The Elle Shushan booth is always charming.

Robert Young Antiques from London.

There were quite a few Maurice Prendergast paintings at the Winter Antiques Show including these from the Adelson Galleries.
