I was invited to review Ivy Tower Bridge and our food was complimentary. I was not paid to visit and was not under contractual obligation to write this blog post or create content on any platform.
I’ve been very lucky with Oscar, he seems to enjoy going to nice restaurants as much as I do… and if he starts to grizzle a bit of milk will set him right again… definitely takes after his mum (substitute milk for wine…)!
Today we were heading to one of London’s most scenic and iconic landmarks… Tower Bridge.
And meeting my best friend (well my other best friend after Oscar) at The Ivy Tower Bridge – my first time visiting this particular branch of the restaurant group and of course you can see from the picture above that I was blown away by the view but the interiors were gorgeous too. I had been a little worried about accessibility but actually there’s a lift down to the restaurant from the bridge and it was really easy with my pram.
Just look at that mirrored and marble bar.
But the terrace is the best place to be if you want to take in the views of Tower Bridge and the London skyline while sipping a cappuccino topped with Ivy latte art.
The Ivy restaurants are always a winner, you can guarantee food that’s also good value as well as pretty interiors and a good ambiance. I really loved this one but my other favourite is the Ivy Chelsea Garden which is a gorgeous al fresco spot on the King’s Road.
The Ivy does everything well so as you’d expect bread is a must! And it’s a really good salt-crusted sourdough bread served with a creamy salted butter. We also ordered truffle arancini, fried Arborio rice balls with truffle cheese, to munch while we decided what to have… we were in no hurry here!
Starters were oak smoked salmon and crab with dill cream and dark rye bread for my friend and marinated yellowfin tuna with citrus ponzu dressing and wasabi mayonnaise with chilli and coriander for me! Along with one of the main reasons for being there, sampling the Indian Summer cocktails in collaboration with The London Essence Company. The limited edition cocktails include the ‘White Peach and Jasmine Spritz’, the ‘River Sunset’ and ‘The Indian Summer’ all created with a distilled botanical essence and are perfect to enjoy during this late summer.
Main courses were also light and easy on this summer’s day; I chose lobster linguine with tomato and chilli sauce with San Marzanino tomatoes, parsley and spring onion while Anna had roast fillet of salmon with sprouting broccoli, Champagne and caper cream sauce. We shared side dishes of creamed spinach, toasted pine nuts and grated Parmesan along with San Marzanino tomato and basil salad with Pedro Ximénez dressing. Everything was simply delicious.
With a slight chill in the September air we decided to head inside for dessert. I’ve had the chocolate bombe before and it’s become quite a must order. Melting chocolate bombe with a vanilla ice cream and honeycomb centre – hot salted caramel sauce is poured on top so that that the milk chocolate opens to reveal the most delicious contents. It’s very rich so a good accompaniment is the lighter dish of frozen berries with natural yogurt and chocolate sauce. Complete with another coffee and some chocolate truffles and you’ll have two very happy grown ups and one happy sleepy baby!
Once again the Ivy ticks all the boxes with Ivy Tower Bridge being the perfect place for a long lunch and accessible with Oscar too!
