It’s definitely not the ideal to have your birthday fall during quarantine but I have to say that I had a very busy and fun day for someone home alone.
It was made special by lovely friends who sent and dropped off wonderful surprises. Preston from @keepitchic drove into the city and brought me pretty daffodils and a delicious cake from Young’s Farm in Locust Valley. A champagne delivery of @perrierjouet arrived from @andrewbrownid and his partner Kip. And my sweet quarantine buddy @margueritewincek dropped off @sofiawine and addictive birthday cake treats from @milkbarstore.
I bought an armful of flowers for myself from @agataandvalentina on Friday which I used to set my birthday dinner table along with my vintage china, glassware, and silver on a pretty tablecloth from @indiaamory. The only hiccup was when the delivery person for @postmates stole the birthday dinner I ordered for myself as a treat from @santambroeus. I thought maybe they were just hungry but a lot of other people have experienced stolen orders from @postmates. I usually always order in from Seamless and have never had a problem with them so I’ll remember this for the future or go to pick up Sant Ambroeus orders in person.
After dinner, I lit the candles on my birthday cake and my parents sung happy birthday to me over the phone before I blew them out and made a wish. I also had a nice call with Andrew and Kip who I spent a wonderful time with in Charleston on my birthday last year. I said that I might have been more upset about spending my birthday alone in quarantine if I didn’t have such an amazing one in 2019.
All and all, I have to say this has been a pretty wonderful birthday considering the circumstances. Good thing it’s going to be sunny tomorrow so I can walk off my dinner and desserts in Central Park.
Thank you for all the warm wishes on Instagram! I really appreciated them!
XOXO,
HC
