Announcing the names of the 7 laureates of the Cartier Women’s Initiative virtually on June 16th, through all the Cartier and the Cartier Women’s Initiative’s websites and social media channels. This annual international entrepreneurship program was established in 2006, with the aim of driving change by empowering women impact entrepreneurs, women-run and women-owned businesses from any country and sector which share a common goal of creating strong and sustainable social and environmental change. Shining a light on these individuals, the initiative works to provide each entrepreneur with the necessary financial, social and human capital support to grow their business and build their leadership skills.

Synonymous with open-mindedness and curiosity, Cartier stands out with its creations, revealing beauty wherever it may be found, be it in Jewelry, fine jewelry, watchmaking and fragrances, leather goods and accessories – each of the brand’s creations symbolize the convergence between exceptional craftsmanship and a timeless signature.
Selected amongst 1200 applicants from over 162 countries, by an independent international jury committee – the 2020 edition of the Cartier Women’s Initiative marks the first time in its history that the establishment has included Danish and Australian women in its picks.
Making positive global change through promoting good health & well-being, reducing inequalities, building sustainable cities and communities and encouraging responsible consumption and production, the initiative acknowledges the pandemic-caused challenges faced by innumerable early stage business, commending each participants ability to leverage their existing business models or to pivot their businesses during this unprecedented time.

Despite a cancelled ceremony, the initiative will be awarding each of the seven laureates listed below with a USD $100,000 grant, as each of the second and third runners-up receive USD $30,000, whilst all 14 finalists receive support on strategic financial thinking, one-on-one strategy mentoring, media visibility and international networking opportunities, as well as the opportunity to join an INSEAD executive education program on scaling social impact.
The brand may not have been able to fully celebrate the accomplishments of each woman in light of the ongoing global pandemic, but it has since expressed plans to include the 2020 winners during the next ceremony in Boston, on May 26th, 2021 which coincides with the initiative’s 15th anniversary.
