Tiffany & Co. brought its 80.33-carat internally flawless oval-cut diamond out to play in Singapore at the Asian Civilisations Museum during its 2021 Blue Book Collection tour. Named the Empire Diamond — for New York City — this massive gemstone was the star of the show, which featured more than 200 designs in the high jewellery collection. The diamond will be set in a necklace inspired by a 1939 World’s Fair creation, a visualisation of which was also on display. Once set, the finished piece will actually be available for sale, unlike another stellar creation destined for the brand’s museum.
As we reported earlier this year, the Empire Diamond was responsibly and transparently sourced from Botswana, in line with the American jewellery brand’s commitment to disclose the origin of all individually registered diamonds above a certain size. Tiffany & Co. was the first major jewellery to take this step in 2020, and this will no doubt put the brand in the good books of the younger set it is courting. Parent group LVMH certainly knows a thing or two about keeping legacy brands and products relevant to new generations.

Alongside the unabashedly spectacular Empire Diamond were other notable creations, including the high jewellery necklace seen on Beyonce recently. There were actually a number of pieces from Beyonce and Jay-Z’s reveal as Tiffany & Co. ambassadors travelling with the 2021 Blue Book Collection, all of which were appearing in Southeast Asia for the first time. On that note, diamonds are not the only stars in this firmament, with plenty of coloured gemstones fighting for the limelight. This also explains the title of the Blue Book Collection this year, Colors of Nature. Jean Schlumberger’s magnificent designs were also on hand on this leg of the collection’s tour, which was open to the press and select Tiffany & Co clients.
