Wally staged a private presentation of the wallywhy100 at an exclusive Ferretti Group event in Venice, where the yacht’s coupé design offered a contrast to her 200GT and 150GT flybridge sisters. The main deck is dominated by Wally’s iconic ‘stealth-style’ glass superstructure and a vast beach deck, while the lower deck includes three en-suite guest cabins.
Stefano de Vivo, Wally’s Managing Director, said: “The wallywhy100 offers a connection to the sea by bringing the cutting edge, open-terrace design of her larger sisters to an approachable, sleek, nimble and class-leading 70-footer.”
The 14sqm beach deck includes a hydraulic high-low platform for launching tenders and toys up to 3.6m, a hydraulic passarelle for easy access to the water or dock, and drop-down wings that extend the terrace by close to 50 percent.
Forward, the angular glass superstructure contains the hybrid saloon and dining area plus a helm with joystick that controls two Volvo Penta D13-IPS engines up to 1,000p each, which produce a top speed of 27 knots. The flexible foredeck has a dining table and two seats that can be converted into sunbeds with headrest cushions.
Luca Bassani, Wally’s founder and Chief Designer, said: “The yacht’s appearance is 100 per cent derived from its function. It stands out from other boats due to its strengthening of the relationship between functionality and performance. The closed cockpit is pushed far forward to provide space for inside/outside living which gives the wallywhy100 an eye-catching, sleek but still aggressive look.
“It’s further emphasised by a large, inviting beach area and the tall, imposing, slightly reversed bow, which guarantees a dry and safe ride in all conditions. It’s unmistakeably a Wally and unmistakeably a wallywhy, but that also means it’s unmistakeably seaworthy.”
The lower deck has a full-beam master cabin aft, with extensive storage options and en-suite bathroom featuring electrically switched privacy glass that can act as a blind or become see-through to increase the light and sense of space in the cabin
There’s also a VIP stateroom to port and a twin to starboard, both with en-suites and large portholes, as well as crew quarters with dedicated access both from the main and lower decks.
The wallywhy100 is scheduled to appear at both the Venice Boat Show (May 29-June 2) and Cannes Yachting Festival (September 10-15).
