And there it is. Just like that we’ve bid summer adieu. The grocery stores are crammed with pumpkins and I spotted changing leaves this weekend. While I’m not fully prepared to embrace all things pumpkin spice, I am fully on board with this amazing autumnal-esque living room.
While I’m obviously very committed to my love of white walls, I also certainly appreciate a dark room (have you seen the one in my house??) and this space just feels like a perfect way to usher in the new season. Designed by a long time fave female duo Pipkorn & Kilpatrick, (surprised ladies created this more masculine feel??) I do like how the all of the molding and cornices remain highlighted in white. That ceiling medallion is just delicious.
Obviously this room has fireplace goals. I’m officially on the hunt for a major mantel for our master bedroom. And I love the bespoke mirror. While it has vintage vibes with its antiqued glass, it is also distinctly modern and adds more light and dimension to the dark space.
Custom bookshelves in a yummy warm oak offer much needed storage and a lighter touch.
The room is furnished with a mix of traditional shapes, a touch of mid-century modern, some classic vintage (hello Falcon chair) and timeless contemporary pieces. The neutral color palette, wood pieces and worn leather tie in the bookshelves and all of the pieces work together to create a kind of parlor room vibe.
The final effect is a cozy, welcoming, approachably elegant room. Exactly the feeling I’d love to achieve in my own house. How about you?
