Given that I’m currently explore the land of saunas, it seems only fitting to share a stunning loft that has its own sauna! The surprising thing about this home is that resides not somewhere in Scandinavia, but in Seattle.
I’ve been poo-pooing all white kitchens, but this white on white on white kitchen, including white appliances is a major moment. The mix of closed cabinetry and open shelving warm up the look just enough. Adding an oak inlay in the same wood used for the custom dining table ties the two spaces together.
Created as apied-à-terre for a tech CEO, this space is highly conceptual, sparse, but seriously cool. Situated in Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square neighborhood, the over 100 year old building was stripped back to its original brick walls and wood-beamed ceiling. Those elements offer texture and richness. White washing the walls and installing light oak floors open up the entire space, making it feel light and bright. That shell offered a blank slate to create a completely customized space.
The designer, Le Whit, created a central structure that houses the bathroom suite and sauna, with the sleeping quarters on top. I love the use of offset black tile and a step up that transitions from the living area to the bathing suite. The curtains across the doors add a touch of softness to what is otherwise a home of nothing but hard surfaces.
The sauna is clad in ebonized wood and simply gorgeous.
Turns out the weather in Seattle is very similar to that of Sweden, so it only makes sense to create a light and bright space complete with a personal sauna. I think more people in Seattle should do it (hint, hint mom). While you probably couldn’t live in a space this minimalist full time, I’d love to crash here for a long weekend. I wonder if this spot ever shows up on Airbnb?? I’m certainly going to be hunting for my next Seattle visit.
Now off to explore Sweden. Happy Monday friends!
