If you’re anything like me, you’ll be missing your fix of international cuisine during the current crisis… and sometimes Waitrose microwave dim sum just doesn’t cut it. Well I’ve got a tip for you, Mr S and I have started treating ourselves to the odd Michelin-star takeaway from our favourite restaurants. A really handy app called Supper* consolidates some of London’s best restaurants in one place so you can travel the world by plate at the touch of a button.
FYI I haven’t tried all of these so I’m not vouching for how good they are plus we all know a takeaway isn’t going to be as good as having the food in a restaurant. I’ve marked with a star the ones that I have actually tried.
Chinese
Hakkasan*
We treated ourself to a takes away from our favourite Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant, Hakkasan as our Mother’s Day celebration. We opted for their champagne set menu which included my favourite steamed dim su, duck salad, silver cod and more. It arrived in really nice Hakkasan branded bag and just the right temperature.
There are lots of favourites available such as smoked beef rib, spicy prawn, Chilean seabass etc. There is also the option to order from Wine by Hakkasan.
Yauatcha
My favourite Dim sum restaurant is coming to your home and can be ordered by platter or by individual dish. There are also salads, meat, fish and poultry.
Japanese
Sake No Hana*
On another night we really fancied sushi and ordered from Hakkasan’s sister restaurant, Sake No Hana. Sushi is possibly the best takeaway option as it doesn’t get cold or over cooked. We ordered a set platter of sushi and sashimi but there are plenty of options for individual items.
Roka
My absolute favourite London sushi restaurant is delivering from the Charlotte Street branch check out the menu for delicious maki rolls and robata grills.
Sushi Samba
Ok it’s not the same as dining in the Heron Tower but you can get your SushiSamba fix via delivery. A great option for those who love Nikkei cuisine – there’s a mixture of staters, main courses and large platters. SushiSamba’s neighbour favourite Duck and Waffle is also available including the inimitable signature dish.
Zuma (featuring Oblix at the Shard)
Japanese classics such as sushi, sashimi, robata seafood and meat are available alongside the Modern European dishes served up at Oblix.
Indian
Benares*
Indian food is another great option for takeaway and fortunately Benares, one of London’s best, is available on Supper. There are plenty of options for curries, chats, tandoors and side dishes.
Peruvian
Coya
Modern Peruivan restaurant Coya has taken to takeaway with plenty of options for tiraditos, ceviches and cooked main courses with Peruvian flourishes.
