Kenneth Jay Lane at Christies

Legendary costume jewelry designer Kenneth Jay Lane passed away almost a year ago and now art, antiques, and objects collected over his lifetime are up for auction at Christie’s Interiors: New York Visions sale on June 6, 2018. Also included in the sale are The Collection of Arnold Scaasi and Parker Ladd, and Robert Couturier: Elements of Style, with over 350 lots of decorative art and fine art from their collections.

Kenneth Jay Lane moved into his Stanford White designed apartment in the 1970’s and filled it with treasures collected from around the world. Included in the sale are 150 lots from his collection spanning contemporary and 19th-century fine art, European and English furniture, continental silver and ceramics, Asian works of art, costume jewelry and memorabilia. The sale will benefit WNET New York Public Media.

The grand duplex apartment with mezzanine at 23 Park Avenue is also for sale for $3.2 Million. I really hope the buyer doesn’t gut the living room and destroy the gilded age details and ornate moldings. They definitely don’t make apartment like this anymore and they also don’t make designers like Kenneth Jay Lane anymore either.

“Elegance, luxury and good taste never go out of style.”
– Kenneth Jay Lane
