The Royal Wedding

Did you get up for the Royal Wedding this morning? I actually woke up at 5:00am and I’m so glad I didn’t sleep in. The wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle was incredibly beautiful and moving. I definitely felt the excitement and love and cried a few tears. Everyone should find a person who looks at them like Harry looks at Meghan. When she walked up to him at the alter, he told her that she looked amazing and she did.

Some people thought her couture gown by British designer Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy was too plain, it seemed perfect for this more modern bride. The wedding was also smaller and not a state occasion as was the case for Prince William and Catherine Middleton which dictated a grand gown. “We wanted to create a timeless piece that would emphasize the iconic codes of Givenchy throughout its history, as well as convey modernity through sleek lines and sharp cuts,” said Clare Waight Keller said in a statement.

There were so many special details sprinkled throughout the wedding. The 16-foot long veil was embroidered with floral designs from all 53 countries of the Commonwealth over which the Queen is also monarch. Meghan borrowed Queen Mary’s Filigree Tiara from 1932 with a center brooch from 1893. She paired it with Cartier earrings and bracelet, an updo hairstyle by stylist Serge Normant and makeup by Daniel Martin. Her bouquet, designed by Philippa Craddock, contained flowers that Prince Harry literally picked from Kensington Palace. The flowers decorating the chapel were also a nod to Diana, Princess of Wales. They were a mix of her favorite white roses and peonies from Kensington Palace.

I think so many of us felt more of a connection to this Royal Wedding since Meghan is an American and marrying a British Prince. I mean, how many of us didn’t dream of that growing up. A sure sign of the power of faith and love as Bishop Michael Curry talked about during the ceremony.

The late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said and I quote: ‘We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love. And when we discover that, we will be able to make of this old world a new world. Love is the only way.”

Pippa Middleton also attended with her husband James Matthews wearing a dress you can buy here.
