Bon Weekend: 27 October 2017

I apologize for the brief posts yesterday and today. This week has been crazy. But I have a lot of photos to edit for upcoming posts and lots of fun things coming up for you in November. I’m looking forward to relaxing tonight while watching the new Joan Didion documentary, The Center Will Not Hold, on Netflix. Her nephew, Griffin Dunne, spent years interviewing her for this intimate portrait of the iconic writer.

While I’m editing photos this weekend, I might binge watch the second season of Stranger Things that also debuts on Netflix tonight. It will be interesting to see how the sleeper hit of last summer that feels like The Goonies meets Poltergeist evolves for season two.

I usually only allow myself to watch Netflix while on the treadmill or elliptical at the gym. That’s how I watched Mindhunter. It is not for the faint of heart but the series which is a cross between a thriller and a crime drama, based on the true crime book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, is a fascinating look at human behavior. As they say on the show, not every psychopath turns out to be a serial killer. Some become president.

Today, I went all the way down to Wall Street to see the Louis Vuitton exhibition Volez Voguez Voyagez (fly, sail, travel) that opened today. It originally debuted at the Grand Palais in 2015 before heading to Tokyo and Seoul and now New York. My friend and I were blown away by the breadth and depth of the displays that trace the history of the venerable French travel and fashion brand from 1854 to the present. The exhibition is free to the public and runs through January 7, 2018 but you must order tickets online for admission. I took a copious amount of photos which I will share with you soon. Until then, you can see a sneak peek in my Instagram Stories until they disappear.

I was also supposed to visit the Dutch art and antiques fair, TEFAF, today but I ran out of steam so I will go tomorrow. It was the most impressive group of dealers of fine and decorative art from antiquity to 1920 last year so I can’t wait to see it again this year. I love that there are so many wonderful cultural things to do each autumn in New York.

On Sunday, I’ll be styling photos for a Christmas story that is set to run in November. Really glad the weather has cooled off so I won’t be decorating a tree in 80 degree temperatures. Such is the life of a blogger.

Thank you to everyone who sent recommendations for Boston. After I get all my work done, I will start making my list. I’ll share as many as I can in my travel recap post but you can also see over a hundred suggestions on my recent Instagram post asking for help.

Hope you all have a bon week-end!

XOXO,

HC
