Is Fashion Modern? at MoMa

If you will be visiting New York City in the next couple of months and are looking for an intriguing art exhibit to check out, might I recommend MoMa’s Is Fashion Modern?. A collection of 111 clothing items from the past, present and in some cases, future, the intention is “clothing and accessories that have had a strong impact on the world in the 20th and 21st centuries—and continue to hold currency today”. From Levi’s 501, Chanel’s little black dress, the sari, and items often associated with specific acts or movements such as the black mask, the hoodie and even particular sporting jerseys, stop by now through January 2018 and intrigue your mind about the power of clothing.

—D.S. & Durga Big Sur After Rain candle

In one of my Instagram stories yesterday, I shared what arrived in the mail, and it was a lovely treat indeed. As someone who adores the rain, I happened to be reading a profile piece on Linda Rodin (of Rodin Facial Oils) recently, and she introduced me to a Brooklyn based scent business which began creating unique combinations at the turn of the 21st century. D. S. & Durga offers candles and perfumes with creative everyday names (i.e. Lightning on Concrete). So far, I’m loving my new candle in my living room.

Podcast

Splendid Table, Lynne’s Goodbye

Say it ain’t so! The host of one of my favorite food podcasts, The Splendid Table, Lynne Rossetto Kasper says goodbye officially on October 12th at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota. For more than 20 years she has been the host and co-founder of the beloved food program on public radio. While the show will go on with a new host Francis Lam, who is doing very well, it just won’t be the same without her uniquely raspy, warm voice. Learn more about her reasons for leaving here on the day she announced the news back in February.

Such weeks should be bottled up and always remembered, but perhaps the best that we can do is make sure we slow down and savor them when we recognize how fortunate we are. It seems that in doing so, more to appreciate is never too far around the corner.

I hope your week has gone well and the arrival of the weekend is perfectly timed. Below are a few articles I think you might enjoy and be sure to follow on Instagram as on Monday morning I will be visiting a place I feel fortunate to return. Until then, have a beautiful weekend and bonne journée.
